DO NOT COME HERE!!!nThe building is infested with bed bugs and management don't seem to care at all. Blaming people instead of the old mattresses and lack of cleanliness. If you get bed bugs you are to wash all clothes in the laundromat which costs a lot of money as they only have 2 washing machines for 80 or more people1 when I left!!nI stayed in the rooms with the en suite, rarely cleaned and wore flip flops in the shower!! There was spots of mould in the bathroom as well!nVery little space given for food and lockers are too small!nLike a boarding school, lights out at 9pm, which is fair enough during the week as people are waking up early for work but weekends are the same rules. No access to kitchen, fridge or washing machines after 9pm. We're all adults so these are ridiculous rules.nLong term stays are not friendly or welcoming, and baffles me that anyone would stay there long term.nI thankfully got out after a very long month and although at first they told me I couldn't keep my job or get my deposit back, I have kept my job and got my deposit back and moved to the next town over to far better conditions!!nLocation gets 3 stars only because it is central
Overall, we had a great time here in the almost 5 weeks we were there and met great people. You can see in many places that Damien the owner is investing in the hostel and personally strives to ensure a nice atmosphere and the well-being of everyone. As with everything, you have to be a bit lucky to find a job, but unfortunately we were unlucky. However, there is a big problem and that is bed bugs!!! You will neither be informed when you want to move in nor will anything be actively done about it. Although there was an exterminator there, even as a layman you could see that what he was doing was of no use. Almost every room is infested and the hostel would actually have to be temporarily closed to get the infestation completely under control! Without the bed bugs it would be a recommendation but unfortunately this plague is almost all we remember when we think of the hostel.
I travelled solo to Bundaberg from Perth after a stressful few months trying to secure days for my visa. Grosvenors came highly recommended and after hearing my story, Damien kindly provided last minute accommodation while being honest that it might take a few weeks to secure work. I was fortunate to start working in my first week, and have just completed my 88th day before my visa expires.nnSuper grateful to Damien and Roxy for helping me out when I was tight for time. They are very honest and work hard to secure work for everyone, ensuring to communicate this at all times. They are great hosts, making time for everyone and providing transport to work everyday. The hostel is equipped with everything you need and the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned everyday. Most of the residents that stay here are like-minded and respectful to each other which makes the experience a lot easier especially as a solo traveller.nnI have made the best memories and friends for life during my 3 months in Bundaberg, thanks Grosvenors for having me!
Me and my partner had an incredible experience staying at this hostel for our 88 days. The owners were truly great, always making sure everything ran smoothly and creating a welcoming atmosphere. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to complete our days here. Beyond the work, we found amazing people to share this journey with, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a supportive and friendly environment!
Highly recommend this hostel. The hostel is clean, has good facilities and a great atmosphere. Damien is so welcoming and helpful. He found farm work for me within a few days of arriving. Transport is provided to and from work which is great
