They answered the phone when I called! Not all butchers do - I called at least 15 butchers before I got to Griffith Butcher. They know their cuts and are culturally aware, preparing authentic cuts of beef and Sausage Asado and FRESH Chorizo at reasonable prices. I live in Tuggeranong but will travel to get quality meat and service with a smile. Well done guys!!! You made our Argentine world cup winning celebrations delicious!
Hands down the best meat in Canberra. The ladies and gentlemen working there are always happy to answer questions and always in great moods!
Ordered a stuffed rolled turkey. When I went to pick it up, I was told they couldn't find it. Eventually, a chap came out, after waiting for some time, and said he found it. When I cooked it , it had no stuffing even though I had ordered it. I was very disappointed and would not go here again Way overpriced, and staff, especially the owner, is very rude. I do not recommend this butcher.
I haven't tried every pie shop in Canberra and had settled on the Ngunnawal bakery as my fav but then i tried some here as they had lofty claims of "best pies." I bought 4 including chilli beef and curried lamb so had 2 for lunch. The pastry was sky high and cooked perfectly.. NOT but "almost" burnt giving crispiness and flavour. The fillings were DEVINE and I can't rate one over the other..they were both so good! The lady who served me was pleasant and informative and the fact this is also a butchery gives one confidence on the source of the meat. If you haven't already you must must try these pies and in the famous line from Arnie...."I'll be back!"
Every year Griffith bakery do the best smoked ham ever. It wouldn't be true Christmas without one. All their cuts of meat are first class. We highly recommend. 5 stars & two thumbs up
The products and service offered by Richard and his friendly staff at the Griffith Butchery are first class. No sawdust aroma in this establishment, but rather mouth watering aromas. Mmmm, I am getting hungry just thinking about it
PIE REVIEW I really wanted to like this place, but it just didn't deliver. To start, they didn't have much of a selection of pies available, I came in around 12 noon, so you'd think they'd have everything ready to go. I went with a plain pie, tasted good but it was just a plain basic meat pie you could get anywhere, and for the price point I expected much more. Sausage roll was exactly the same, lacked flavour and was dry, same on the price! Now here is the biggest mistake places make, sauce. They didn't have it out on display for you to pick how many you wanted or what type, which meant you didn't know how they cost, and even more annoying is because of all this they put it in the bag and get it WRONG. Why not have the sauce out, a small charge sign on it, and let people decide for themselves. Overall was ok, would maybe, just maybe give it another try.
The owner is a great butcher BUT the new staff are uneducated on proper cuts of meat. Multiple times ive asked for french cut lamb shanks 500g, even custom cut and they try to tell me they only come in one size. Both times i've received over trimmed just on 400g shanks mostly bone weight, very disappointed wont be returning!
Over twenty years this butchery has been a favourite. Great service and excellent meat. Not cheap but excellent value for money. Certainly better than any other butchery in the Canberra region.
I discovered Griffith Butcher many years ago 15-20 and have been a loyal customer ever since, even though I now live over 50 kilometres away! Their superb quality meats, excellent service and friendly and knowledgeable staff are without comparison. We love their preservative-free options my partner is allergic, the wide variety, the ethical farming standards and the homemade pastries. Our pets adore the kangaroo meat and the pet mince, and the sausages are brilliant! For us, it's one-stop for ALL meat-related shopping.
