Super chill place to escape the city for a while. Pretty easily accessible by train from CBD. One of the closest spots from the city where you can see wild Kangaroos! We got lucky and after a while of wandering around we found a family of about 10 Kangaroos. Even saw an Echidna.nTip: If you want to see the Kangaroos, go the the grassy area near Gresswell hills west of the forest; in the forest itself you are very unlikely to see them.
I was a bit concerned whether the terrain would suit a pram, but we had no issues even with some tree roots. Fair amount of shade along the path we chose.
Pretty good for everyday walks as it’s right in the middle of a suburb! There are multiple walks, mostly easy with a few steep climbs for a couple of tracks. One would def see some beautiful birds and kangaroos in the forest… there is a proper walkway and directions put up everywhere to make it easy to find your way inside the forest. We enjoyed our walks there!!
Wildflower walk is a narrow meandering dirt track through a vision of trees and the sounds of birdsong, an oasis of calm and quiet right in the heart of peak hour. A beautiful surprise - I’ll be back
There's just something very special about this forest/nature reserve and adjoining Gresswell Habitat Link, even though it's bordered by houses. It's hard to describe what makes it so. It could be the dry, gentle smell of the gums as the day warms up, the serenity, or the way the paths meander through.nA number of kangaroos are seen throughout, and birds aplenty.nLimited parking is available at the Greenwood Drive playground.
