Hamilton Island has a tropical climate. From January to March it is rainy, hot and humid, although at that time the temperature of the pools and the sea are warm and a pleasure to swim in. In winter and spring it has a temperature of about 24 degrees Celsius, which allows for plenty of beach time. There are a variety of activities on the island all year round, including snorkelling, scuba diving, visits to the Whitsundays, dinner cruises, kayaking and more. On the island you can go by buggy or bus which are free!
I stayed here 6months. there are so many activities and never get bored, like scuba diving, catamaran/dingy rental, golf, tracking on a mountain and more and more. All people I've met in the island was amazingly friendly and very international.
Great location for an amazing warm weather holiday. This island has so much to do for everyone including: watercraft rental, putt putt golf, tennis, day trips to the reef or islands, snorkelling, go karting, sunset cruises, bowling, day hikes and more. Perfect for families with kids of all ages and a few great adults only options as well. Handy to fly in and out from with the island airport. Tip: Need to book island restaurants well ahead during school holiday periods.
Hamilton Island offers so many activities that one day isn't sufficient.  Alow two days to enjoy Hamilton Island. We had allowed one day and we regret it later. They have three swimming pools & several onsite kids activities. All the transportation within the island is by the shuttle bus or the buggy.  Try to book buggy few weeks prior to your trip as this is the most important element in Hamilton Island. If you are visiting Hamilton Island during peak period, you must buggy many weeks prior to your arrival. There are limited restaurants as a result prior booking is necessary.
Very attractive. It is a world in and of itself. Don't forget to hire a electric golf tri rickshaw . It was a pleasure to spend a couple of hours wandering about the island.. wonderful beach and surroundings.. the view from the top of the hill is breathtaking. I had a great time on the day.
Love race week, love the Whitsunday islands. However they are just a little too merciless with a captive audience to get the fifth star....
Hamilton island is a beautiful island in the Whitsundays. It has a lot of little shops, eateries, accomodation and activities. Definitely worth the trip if you are in the area. Can you even believe that the photos below were taken on a rainy and overcast day?! Tropical North Queensland definitely living up to the name. Perfect escape, particularly during the cooler months when it is not wet season
Probably a bit controversial but I found the hospitality businesses lacking character. It's paradise, no question and there is a ton to do but I personally found the name tags and uniforms across the island more like a resort which I guess it is... Would I go back if I was visiting Australia? Probably not so much to see. Would I go back if I lived in Australia? Probably. There's so much to do within a compact space, it's great for short breaks. Highlight was 1.5 hours on Freedom Charter boat hire. You get your own boat, for 8 of us it worked out cheaper than the group stuff and it was a really nice chilled way to see the sunset.
Wonderful location for friends and family to escape and relax. Beautiful clear waters, lush palms and access to mini golf buggies to all visitors to utilise and explore the island make this a place to enjoy and regenerate. Only slight draw back is the beaches aren't actually sand but broken coral and not too gentle on your feet.
I love Hamilton Island, partly because every single town in Australia looks exactly the same with the same shops and layout whereas Hamilton is unique. There is live music most nights in different venues, Reef View Hotel bar is good on a Saturday and the Tavern pub on a Sunday. The only thing they could do better is to have an adults only pool as unruly kids jumping in and out of the pool is annoying for guests without children. Please could you also invest in some decent sun loungers? Bare plastic loungers are very uncomfortable! Make sure you do the walk to Passage Peak. The views from Reef View Hotel are spectacular! Keep your eyes peeled… you might bump in to someone famous! Julia Roberts moves in soon to start filming a movie. On the whole we had a fantastic time!
