We did this walk over two days but if you are fit and keen, you could do it in one. However, you wouldn’t have time to stop and admire all the magnificent scenery or take any of the little sidetracks to the many points of interest.nThe track is beautifully maintained so it is relatively easy walking but there are LOTS of stairs 176 floors on day 1! so you’re legs will get a workout!nThe train is the easy way to get back to where you started, with stations at Wentworth Falls, Leura and Katoomba all in walking distance or you can get a bus.
Day 1: Parked the car at Leura Mall, caught the train to Wentworth Falls station where the walk starts and walked back to Leura, making this leg a loop.nnWe did this 11-12km loop in 7 hours, although we are slow walkers.nnWentworth Falls is jaw dropping, Darwin’s Walk is great, and the new hiking infrastructure is done very well. Kudos to the trail designers and engineers.nnDay 2: parked the car at Gordon Falls picnic area in Leura, walked to Katoomba, and caught an Uber back.nnMany beautiful vistas on Day 2. The trail feels a little run down, in comparison to the Day 1 trail. Personally, I didn’t find anything beyond Echo Point compelling; the trail was chockers with tourists, and the views were better earlier. We covered the 8km in 3 hours.nnIf I could do it again, I would do it in reverse, starting at Echo Point and finishing at Wentworth Falls station. This way, one can enjoy the magic of leaving the hordes behind, and watch the views get progressively more stunning as the hike goes on.
This was an excellent excursion. I did the first day by lunch time, with multiple detours in place. Since it was poor weather I decided to save day 2 for another time. The track is amazing, but poorly signed in places. Take a photo of the sign board before you begin as a reference.
A nice walk with some lovely rock features and differing flora. I did the walk in reverse from Katoomba to Wentworth Falls… highly recommend taking this route… the stairs are a killer. Not suited for an average family, although an active family would do okay. I think the section between Gordan Falls and Katoomba would be best if you wanted to do just one section. Gladstone lookout was by far my favourite though!nnEdited to add - thank you Blue Mountains trail building team for this magnificent hiking journey, connecting so many highlights of the mountains in one convenient track
This is an amazing walk. We have only done 4 hours of this walk but it was so pristine. We started from near Wilson's Park at Falls road. Loved every bit of it. It is a grade 3 so lots of steps. But there arenamazing walk ways and bridges built. There are couple of places where you could get slightly confused. Just follow the signs for Wentworth Falls picnic area and you are on the right track for the first leg.
