We ordered a meal and waited over an hour after the delivery due time and over 2 hours after we ordered. I called the restaurant to check on delivery time and was told it was on its way. They couldn't tell me what time it left the restaurant just to be patient it will arrive soon. We waited another 20 minutes which is longer than it takes to drive to our house from the restaurant. We opened the order only to find that there were items missing. The rice kind of important and the food was cold and the drink was warm. We contacted the restaurant as we had hungry children who had already waiting. They said nothing could be done unless we came to pick up the missing items or called the manager to get a refund. We called the manager and got no answer. No apology from the restaurant. We decided to eat what we had but the food was taistless and soggy. Cold and inedible. As you can see on the from the picture the prawn toast was flat limp and disgusting. We called the restaurant asking to speak to the manager only to be told that the manager was too busy to come to the phone. Do not order from here. Save you time, money and your stomach. Staff are rude and do not care.
26/12/22 - this restuarant is operating under FIVE identities now on uber eats. 1 Gourmet No. 1 2 Chinese on Main Street 3 Taste of Asia 4 Steam'd Pakenham 5 Noodle Hut ‐------‐-----END UPDATE --------- Before I proceed with this review, please know that I contacted the restaurant and voiced my concerns regarding my order prior to leaving this review. I was told by the girl that answered the phone, that if she received bad food, she would leave a bad review. So, here it is: They operate under 'Gourmet No. 1 Chinese Restaurant' AND 'Chinese on Main Street' through UberEats. I ordered via UberEats using 'Chinese on Main Street' as I did not want to order food from Gourmet No.1. Ordered San Choi Bow with chicken. Mix was made with frozen diced mixed vegetables peas, corn, carrots & perhaps cauliflower?, there were approx. 3 little pieces of chicken not a mince. Sauce was overpowering I love salt but even I had issues with this. Heavy soy taste with oyster sauce I think. On a positive note, the Cos lettuce leaves were fresh. Pic attached of contents of San Choi Bow - sorry no chicken pieces as there were only 3. Ordered Combination mixed meat/seafood and veg. Extremely large amount of celery chunks. One prawn household fight is on! Sauce was pretty much the same as the San Choi Bow. I'm so grateful I ordered the steamed rice which was OK because I wouldn't have been able to eat the combo on it's own. It was extremely salty. Pic attached. I look forward to splurging on Chinese once in a while and was really disappointed - so much so, I've sat down to write a review! If your looking for beautiful, flavorsome, balanced chinese food, this is unfortunately not the answer.
Ordering through UberEats. There were small pieces of meat in the mixed vegetables, I also had multiple hairs in my dish one of the hairs is shown in picture. They operate under multiple different names on UberEats, so research before you buy. In regards to the response that I had ordered tofu, yes I know those large pieces were tofu, obviously, but there were other pieces of meat and it’s happened to me before. The multiple hairs in my dish were my biggest concern.
Quality of food is terrible. Ordered from uber eat 2 dishes and a soup and the sesame prawn. Worst Chinese take away I had. First things first.... everything taste super salty. Broccoli is old and hard.... ie chewy. Added tofu.... no tofu. Ordered kung pao chicken.... tastes like soy sauce chicken..... no Szechuan taste or spice in it at all. Not even a hint of spice. Terrible. Looked totally different than what is advertised or everywhere else I had ate this. Why is it soaked in sauce....??? Looked and tastes more like stir-fry vegie with chicken. By the way... we found half a dried Chili in the whe dish.... yes I said half. Ordered my chicken shark fin soup.... taste like drinking soy sauce..... my God.... seriously.... Lastly the sesame prawn toast.... feels like biting on salty toast... We tried to force it in and tried to eat it.... but. Sorry... I don't want to have a heart attack. Last photo is the food that is going to be wasted. Hope they can put some care and love into cooking the food. This is really disappointing. After all this constructive review from so many customers feedback, do anyone or the owner actually doing anything to make it better. I added a photo from their site... kung pao chicken.... and compare it to what I was given.... speechless...
I ordered, sat down for around 5 minutes, called my number and said "gee that was quick" yes should of been a red flag.. rice was definitely old, Cantonese beef looked microwaved and it had the brown tinge colour to it, i couldn't eat it as it had an off taste to it. Char sui was half decent however was ok to eat... very disappointed as I have eaten in the restaurant 3 times and all 3 meals have been great. I won't be going back.
We ordered dinner on uber eats, we are closer to a 10 minute drive and the food was delivered in under 15 minutes. All meals were cold, noodle dishes were soggy, tofu was dry and only half the container was filled. All the food went in to the bin as it was inedible and we now find ourselves having two minute noodles for dinner which are a massive improvement on the absolute filth we were delivered. My partner has thrown up after only eating one piece of tofu and is now feeling sick. Can honestly say this is the worst take away experience I have ever had and that is unanimous with all here who were served this disgraceful serving of left overs and previously returned meals. All I can say is thank God these disgraceful chefs are not responsible for feeding the homeless or third world children who are starving because they would all be dead from starvation
I think I’ve eaten it nearly every Chinese restaurant in Melbourne but this place has to be the most disgusting in edible food ever served to human being. I spent $226 on Uber eats it arrived. Stone, motherless, cold, and every single thing was disgusting beyond belief a dog would not even eat it, apparently they operate under five different names but anyone going anywhere near this place should just book a bed at the nearest hospital because you will be sick from food poisoning for at least one month. They deserve -5 stars, but unfortunately I have to give them one star and I felt terrible awarding, and even this place should be closedown and Uber eats should take them and all the other identities of the list of restaurants because I certainly do you not like to think that they operate under different identities. I could accidentally ordered from one of these, not knowing it was the same place they hold this already should be notified and will probably do that tomorrow. I intend to ring them and demand a full refund.
If I could I wouldn’t even give a star I’ve been ordering from here for 28 years but NO MORE! I ordered honey chicken and couldn’t even bite into the batter because it was so hard & chicken was so tuff it was horrible and was obviously old I also ordered garlic beef & vegetables there were large chunks of raw celery in it which they never used to do it made the dish taste horrible and the beef all 4 pieces was so tough just turned me off and so disappointed i threw everything out I will never order from here again
Ordered Uber eats order Chinese on main street is the Uber eats name Ordered a beef hor fun I counted 6 peices of small meat in the whole container you pay a premium for the food and get only 6 tiny peices of meat in a whole container. Absolute disgrace of a place and I can see this place eventually going under someday soon with the amount of bad reviews and lack of care from them. I Won't be back and I will be telling people to not go here.
The beef and veg was tasteless, meal looked microwaves veg was raw absolutely the worst meal iv ever had even with numerous sauces salt and pepper tasteless I was realy looking forward to Chinese, its an absolute insult to Chinese. I called the shop , the girl was so rude said it's just the way they make it. I asked to speak to the boss but she said there's no one here and to complain to uber eats... WARNING...DONT ORDER FROM HERE YOU WILL BE JUST WASTING YOUR MONEY.
