Diner at GK or Gourmet Kitchen for the first time tonight & we were very happy & happily impressed. The name doesn’t suggest it but this is a Spanish based restaurant with a great selection of Tapas, Mains & Paella on offer. We dined on a Wednesday so got to try their new mid week special, with was 2 x tapas & paella for $28 per person. We got the wagyu meatballs & patatas bravas for tapas & the seafood paella, but the menu looked so good we just had to order more so also added the tuna ceviche taco & a beetroot dish. OMG, everything was super yum, like honestly it would be hard to pick the best dish, and that was because all of them were great! The service was so friendly, the atmosphere was nice, it’s in a really good space & apparently they run a cooking school to boot! Yes, we will be back!
My wife and I were given a Red Balloon voucher for the 5 course banquet here with bottle of wine or beverages to a value. We were not let down. I was very hungry before we arrived and by then end, I struggled to eat the dessert. The courses were brilliant with my favourite by far was the potatoes. I'm easily pleased.Food: 5/5
I completed the seafood master class today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jam packed with amazing food and recipes. Laura is passionate, knows her stuff and handles a variety of people some more challenging then others well. I feel some things could of been demonstrated more and supervised more, but overall there was a good level of help and I loved how interactive it was. I left totally full and tired! Can’t wait to be back for the restaurant.
My wife and I were excited to try out this place after being given a voucher for our birthdays. The food menu piqued our interest, with Spanish cuisine being in the majority on the menu. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly, young staff member, who ushered us to our seats. We were suitably impressed by the decor and seating/table arrangements. To start off, we tried a variety of tapas as a shared entree, including the croquettes, wattleseed damper, salted calamari and patatas bravas. The tapas portions were extremely generous and absolutely tasty. They were near perfect. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the mains. The steak was.grey, flavourless and was not medium, but well done. The seafood paella had plenty of seafood on it, but was very wet, in fact more like a risotto and was also quite flavourless. We were quite taken aback by the mains, especially considering previous reviews. We certainly haven't written the place off, in fact, we will return to try some of the other tapas options.
First time in this place, upon arrival was greeted by staff, very friendly. Sat down, ordered the 5 course banquet and few cocktails, compliments to the bartender who we could see put a lot of love in his cocktails, waitress was super friendly and helpful, checked on us few times to make sure everything was ok. Food was pretty quick, prawns were huge! Lamb tasty, calamari coating didn't stick very well so lost a bit of crunch but still tasty, duck breasts were a little over but we ate quickly before it became too tough to eat. Desserts were lovely, big selection of desserts. Nice ambience, relaxed, modern look, was not too busy so it was even more enjoyable. It was a birthday celebration and we will definitely go back for more! Thanks guys
4.5/5 The menu caters to all palates, featuring a diverse range of options including vegan and GF! If you’re interested in their cooking classes, they can be booked on their website and vary from Japanese, Thai, Italian, Spanish, Veg/Vegan, Beginner’s, GF Baking and Patisserie. The promise of strong flavours was not an exaggeration. Each dish was a balanced, well-rounded flavour bomb. The tuna ceviche was such a refreshing start, with a thin and crispy shell underneath making it really light and easy to eat. The acidity of the vinaigrette was perfect! The Patatas Bravas, a generous serving of crispy potatoes with a spicy sauce elevating it tenfold. The meatballs, bursting with flavour and tenderness, melted in the mouth and were perfectly seasoned. Whilst I haven’t had many paellas to compare it to, this one was incredible. The rice was soft, the proteins were plentiful, the flavours of each ingredient shone through with each bite. The crispy pork was also great, made even better when eaten with the smoky chorizo sauce that accompanied it. It was tender, the skin had the perfect crisp and we could not fault any of it. Even the drinks here are a treat, and although we couldn’t stomach some dessert after our feast, they looked and sounded incredible, leaving us with an excuse to return to try them next time. My minor critique would be a wish for the interior to mirror the vibrancy of their strong, flavourful dishes as I really think it could enhance the whole ambience and dining experience. My experience at Gourmet Kitchen was excellent and I definitely will return to try more of the menu. This hidden gem deserves more of a spotlight - they are delivering fresh, high-quality dishes that deserve to be recognised more.
Amazing restaurant, service and food! We booked via an experience we saw on red balloon. Showed up, venue looked beautiful with a nice atmosphere. Wait staff were super friendly and attentive. Food presentation and portions were fantastic, so much food. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
My wife is a coeliac, so it's important to find restaurants that are either completely gluten-free or can accommodate the dietary requirement. GK Tapas bar, I'm happy to say, were very accommodating and had plenty of gluten-free options. We decided on a banquet meal and were not disappointed with any of the servings. Well-made coffee and friendly service made for an excellent experience. Well, worth a visit. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options available.
I love the staff and food at Gourmet Kitchen! I first came here last year for my hen's day where Laura led us through a high tea cooking class! Not only was it so much fun, but we also got to eat what we created the best part! We love the experience so much that my cousin and I vowed we would come back to try the rest of their menu. Finally last night we were able to visit again. My cousin is vegetarian, so we ordered the vegan paella banquet. My goodness it was filling, satisfying and utterly delicious! I can't say I missed having meat at all! We had so much food that we even packed the leftovers to take away! Everything was popping with flavours, but the dish that delighted me the most was the bird's nest. There was something special about the crispiness of the strands and mix of caramelised onions and root vegetables that just blended so perfectly together. I can't wait to come back to try more of your menu! Thank you for a wonderful evening, Laura & team! Xx
Lovely friendly talented staff from the booking, to seating and bill ! The place has a lovely ambience and relaxing place to eat and chat. The menu has a huge selection to please all diners. We loved the wgau meat balls, the pumpkin/almond chips, the lamb ribs, the porter house steak - cooked to absolute perfection, the grilled barramundi and burnt hummus, the chicken paella and the double dipped chips !! we'll be back.
