Super cool staff and friendly local players. A unique course and awesome surroundings. Friday chook run and a lot of a fun
I haven't had a hit on this course as yet but have caddie for a good friend twice on the 18 holes, the cost of green fees and cart hire are very good. Has a good mixture of par 5s, 4s and 3s that will definitely try you out, some sneaky dog legs and not to forget the sand traps. Hopefully next Friday my arm will be ok to have a swing, so if your in the area and feel like a game you won't be disappointed.
Great value for money. A no frills experience. Half of the course is in the middle of the turf club track which has no shade. But the other half is in beautiful trees and shade. They hire clubs and sell tees and balls.
Extremely upset at the way our group were treated today. Booked for 12:30pm and was told to be back by 4:30pm. We followed the rules and offered to let everyone pass us that wanted too. However on the last hole we were approached by a staff member and told someone rang to complain that we were holding them up. The staff member told us to hurry and move along, i was shocked. We approached the staff member at the end to explain we never held anyone up and offered for everyone to pass, and that we finished an hour earlier than the time given. Instead of understanding, we just received a lecture on how we were too slow that that the rules say we should have played it quicker, even though we were still booked for another hour....... Felt extremely discriminated against just because we weren't all pro golfers. She also continues to degrade us by telling us another group did 18 holes quicker than we did 9. How can you expect a club to survive if this is how you treat possible new members. Completely irrelevant and rude! We wanted to support local businesses during this tough time by going out and having a social round of golf, and this is how we were treated. We will not be coming back there and We will never support you again. I will quit happily take my business up the hill to Mareeba where all skill levels are welcome and you're greeted with a smile not a grunt.
One of the worst golf clubs I’ve been too. The apparent ‘Members’ who play at the club constantly harass amateurs about being too slow despite almost hitting us twice and hitting across 2 lanes. After hitting the ball across 2 lanes the poor excuse for a ‘member’ came over to complain about our golf attire. This gentleman was clearly upset that a group of younger players were all shooting under par in comparison to him who had shanked his ball almost hitting 4 people. He then got the employee to tell us our attire was unacceptable 40 minutes into playing despite us all paying for 9 holes and balls prior. The committee members at this club have very fragile masculinities and clearly take their anger out on non-members who play better than them. It was quite embarrassing to watch and will not be coming back in the future.
Below Par Service: Course and buggies were well maintained, and the prices are reasonable. But the customer service left a lot to be desired. As a slightly bigger group trying the course for the first time, we were running a little bit slower. As per the rules, we allowed two smaller groups to pass us. We didn't appear to hold them up in the slightest and we did out best to clear all 9 holes as fast as we could, an hour faster than we were expected to have returned by. Halfway through the final hole, a staff member appeared in a golf cart and proceeded to advise us that we were slow and holding people up. Given that we were ahead of the expected time and were completely courteous to the other players on the course, I dont believe this was warranted. Unfortunately because of the customer service, this course has lost 5 relatively new players as potential customers. We would rather travel an hour and a half to Mareeba, where amateurs are a little more welcome.
I played with some friends about 3 weeks ago. We are all new to golf and allowed a few groups to pass us so we wouldn't hold them up. We finished an hour earlier than the allocated time, but were still harassed by a rude staff member at the end saying we should have been done sooner. The time spent playing was fun, but due to the staffs rude attitude I believe 1 star is too much. Won't be returning here.
Great, friendly golf club. People are welcome from all over the world and will enjoy this surprisingly tough little golf course. The open fairways on some holes will appeal to the "not so experienced" player whilst the small greens are a tough target for the more experienced golfers out there. Whatever your handicap is, I'm sure you will enjoy the day of golf at Gordonvale as I have, fantastic value for money.
Great morning on the 9 hole course. Glenn had a very enjoyable hit while I was driver and score girl.Great course, looks fantastic and the staff, office man was awesome
Members are rude and complain about amateurs to get us off the course after we were playing with correct ettiquette and asking ones catching up to us if they would like to pass. We were on the last hole and the whole experience was ruined for us by being told to hurry up because someone behind us called to make a complaint. Which we dont understand because we offered to let everyone of them pass. Management said we could be there until 4:30. We were almost finished by 3.30 and I couldnt find my ball on the last hole. I was so upset with the way we were treated I no longer wanted to find my ball and play the last hole.
