This used to be our local Chinese restaurant. I miss the yum cha so much now that I live on the Central Coast no yum cha up this way. It was always fresh and tasty. We went there so much that some of the staff knew us. I am missing the dumplings so much!
Had a very pleasant dinner with the family here. The staff were polite and friendly. The food is on the expensive side but the portions are relatively large. The Pipi's with XO sauce and fried rice noodles was delicious!
They recently got a new chef. Food is better than it was before. Quite average Chinese restaurant with traditional Cantonese food. Lots of car parking, but not very convenient and you have to sign in to a Leagues club to get in. Food is variable, but quite good for the most part. The service is a bit lacking, they are slow to respond and get things, and when it is busy the service suffers
Not a bad yum cha. The restaurant is located inside RSL club so if you are not from the area you need to get your ID scanned to be able to enter the premises. The restaurant is quite sizeable and they even had tanks with lobsters and abalone. We ordered the usual: char gow, rice noodles with prawns, garlic chives and prawn dumplings, spinach dumplings, chicken feet, mango pancakes. I judge yum cha places by their chicken feet and it was just ok didn't quite like the sauce which was too sweet and no spicy flavour but other dishes were good. Mango pancake was a bit disappointing too, probably because it's not a mango season.
Great food, beautiful decor, service is just as you would expect from a yum cha joint. It is a bit on the more expensive side but that's to be expected considering the location and everything.
Best mud crab in Sydney. Clean and tidy with good ambience. Attentive staff too.
Booked online 3 days before for a weekend lunch, got cancelled one night before from an email without any explanation. Had to call them 1 hr before my "reservation", and all they said is they have a full house. So I had to look for a restaurant 1 hr before my original plan because they cancelled my reservation less than 24 hrs and didn't even bother to give me a call, so that I can plan ahead. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, and I don't think they care anyway. Very disappointing experience. It doesn't make sense I can book when they have full house. It doesn't make sense they cancelled my reservation less than 24 hrs by email without any explanation. Very arrogant.
Do not take the 1pm booking and do not accept the table near the return of the trolleys to the kitchen as trolleys had no food when they went past our table. Food was cold as the trolley had been out for a long time. Poor selection, limited choice, food poorly presented and cooked - all in all a bad choice to frequent this restaurant. Unfortunately took guests who had a poor Yum Cha experience.
Food was yummy but they forgot to bring one of our meals out until we were about to ask for the bill. Had to ask twice for the late meal, which meant going into the kitchen once to find out where it was. Ordered drinks and they didn't turn up, had to chase the staff twice. As I said, food was good but service was under par
Very disappointed as whilst not aware they took bookings for yum cha. We waited over 30mins with my elderly Mother and a queue of 20 other people to celebrate Mother's Day during which time there were at least 6 tables empty ! including one big enough for our party. I asked the manager if we could please take a table as we had an elderly person, she refused claiming the empty tables were booked and that they release them if the guests don't turn up after 10 minutes - this was certainly not the case as those tables remained empty for well over 30mins and I told her she had lost a lot of business as we would have finished our meal by then and most yum cha places don't take bookings and prioritise those that actually turn up. We left and enjoyed a magnificent and better value feast at the original Shanghai Night, 275 Liverpool Rd, Ashfield.
