The environment was different with welcome message and walking piano. The display of the items in different figurines is unique. We ordered some lunch special items that came with entree. The portion size was very tiny. The taste was not good. The honey chicken we had was very dry. The szechuan chicken tasted more like stir fry on sweet chili sauces. Will not go back again. Not worth. I hope they focus on taste and portion size.
We came out to Orange for a long weekend visit to unwind and visit some wineries. We stayed 15 minutes out of town on a farm. We stuffed up our dinner plans one night and decided to go into town and have and old school Chinese meal. We absolutely loved the premises, the décor, the food was absolutely superb and the service from the staff rivalled all the Michelin star places we’ve been to around the world. Too often these days the staff don’t check on the guest or ask if the food is to their liking, it was pleasant to be asked and checked on throughout the meal which seems to not happen anymore unless you are spending over $500. I strongly disagree with a lot of the other reviews for this place, I live a stones throw away from China Town in Sydney and although some of the best and most authentic Chinese food can be found right where I live, my wife and I are unable to find what we call “old school Australian Chinese food”. This style of food seems to have disappeared from most parts of Sydney decades ago. On the menu they had more traditional Chinese dishes, but as soon as we saw the photos of some of the more “westernised” dishes online, we knew we had to come here to try the old favourites like the crispy beef, lemon chicken and satay chicken. Absolutely superb, it was exactly what we were hoping for, quite literally some of the best “Australian Chinese dishes” we’ve had in years. From the welcome door bell to the fake fish in the fish tank, to the dishes that held the food to the cook and the wait staff, my wife and I absolutely loved it all, there was nothing we could fault. Every time we go past or to Orange, we will definitely make a detour to the New Golden Bowl Chinese Restaurant every time. I wish you the best success as this place deserves it.
I ordered sweet and sour pork and every single pieces are fat. Its not a food.
If you want Chinese served very differently then this is the place for you. From piano hallway that you walk on to the bowls shaped to the dish you are eating.
I took my wife here for an early dinner for our 2nd wedding anniversary and I have been tasting all day one of my most favourite dishes being sweet and sour pork well I tell you it was disgusting just about every piece was gristle and fat. If that was cooked by a qualified chef you should be ashamed of yourself for serving food not fit for sale. I will be sending a complaint for something to be done with this business and I think the best result will be closed down permanently. The worst meal I have ever eaten. My wife and I refuse to return, we paid $170 for our meal and it would have been worth $5 all up.
This place should be shut down, ordered mixed entree, ham and chicken roll was disgusting, our daughter ordered combination long short soup which was inedible large chunks of garlic throughout, the other meals were just as bad fried rice smelt burnt and seemed a couple of days old and just reheated. without a doubt the worst dining experience we have ever encountered. We walked out paying our bill after eating basically nothing, we didn't want to risk food poisoning.
Yummy food and such a great experience! Lots of quirks and fun features like a walk on piano and a transformer! Staff were lovely and the food was very yummy. Definitely worth checking it out.
The ordering process is quick and easy online which was an absolute relief after driving for 11 hours to get here. Because I spent over $65 I got a free Honey Chicken. How good is that? The Hot & Sour Soup and the Chicken and Sweet Corn soup were excellent. The container for the Sweet and Sour Pork was fantastic! Split into 2 seperate compartments, one for the meat and the other for the sauce. Ensuring beautiful crispy pork with every bite. The rice was good. The Combination Hokkien Noodles and the Chicken Hokkien noodles were disappointing however. The Chicken one was very bland and the combination one…well, the beef was lovely but I had a piece of chicken that tasted like it had turned and I had to spit it out. Unfortunately after that I couldn’t bring myself to eat any of the other chicken because the taste was incredibly unpleasant. I will be staying in town for 2 weeks and was initially delighted to have found such a great place on my first night. What a shame!
It was an amazing dining experience. The staff are lovely and the food exceeded expectations. I would definitely come back for the pad thai alone. The interior is fun, quirky and very welcoming.Food: 5/5
Lunch special was great. Plenty of food cooked well. Restaurant is very decorated including a 6ft Bumblebee robot from Transformers movie and a floor piano.Food: 5/5
