I have ordered takeaway from Gokul in the past and been very happy, but tonight I dined in their restaurant for the first time and was thoroughly unimpressed. The meal itself was absolutely incredible, very generous servings and delicious food. However my experience was soured by the waitstaff who were absolutely incompetent. We were not asked if we would like drinks and practically had to chase a waiter down to order them. The entree took a long time despite the restaurant being empty other than us and two other tables. Once the entree was finished there was then a 20 minute wait for our mains, which arrived without cutlery - we had to go and fetch it ourselves from an empty table because we were unable to attract the attention of the waitstaff. When we asked for our leftovers to be packaged to-go, we were brought out plastic containers and told to fill them ourselves. Normally I would not mind this at a cheap restaurant, but was absolutely appalled considering the price of the meal and the previous events of the evening. Finally, when paying the bill I was told the price of the meal, asked if I would pay by card or cash and then told goodbye. There was no "how was your meal?", no "enjoy your evening", absolutely nothing beyond the absolute bare minimum they could do to get my money from me. I have very low standards when it comes to service, but this was absolutely appalling and totally ruined what was meant to be a special evening for me having just graduated University. There is no way I will ever be visiting this establishment again and I would urge all others to avoid it as well.
Delicious food!! Some of the best butter chicken I have ever had. Their chili garlic naan was also excellent! Good service, although the restaurant was very quiet while we were there. Very reasonably priced.
Reasonably tasty food at decent prices. They can struggle to fill orders when they get busy which leads to a bit of a wait. I had a chicken vindaloo which was nice. The portion sizes are also quite good. I made the mistake of ordering a green salad which was some wilted lettuce, old tomato and a pile of red onion but I guess that's on me for ordering a side salad at an Indian restaurant...
We went there late at night with a small group of Indian-food neophytes. Was fairly empty save for a couple of families who kept staring at us. Food was decent and good veggie options, but those who ordered the chicken said that it wasn't fresh. Service wasn't super friendly at that time either. Prices are fair.
Service was awfully slow and unprofessional. We have been to this restaurant two times and both times it wasn't a pleasant experience for us. First time we took a take away and they forgot to give us our naans. When we called them after arriving home they did send the naan to our house but that was 1 hour later. Other time we went there for a dinner with my wife and the dishes took very long to arrive our table but the restaurant wasn't busy at all. The host and waitstaff was quite rude and unprofessional. Don't think I'll go back there again. There are much better Indian places around this area.
Just because I had to give something. I had one of the worst dinners ever. We just went out seeing the ratings. Though the place looked good but the food was worse then ever. I could have had a better meal for the same price even at any food court. We just ordered 3 things from menu as it was an early dinner. 1. Dahi puri - the curd was sour and warm. Nit the usual way of serving dahi puri 2. Medu wada - The wadas were too dry and the sambhar was not warm enough. The coconut chutney served was sweet. This was the first time I had a sweet version of a typically savoury condiment. 3. Masala Dosa - It was too oily n not even close to being crispy. I could see the cracks made by watery and old batter as I've cooked it myself a couple of times. Worst of all, when reported back to our server, the word we hear from chef was we serve it this way ONLY and we can't do anything about it.
Went for dinner at Gokul Wentworthville. Have ordered Shahi paneer in which there were hardly any paneer. Veg tufani did not have any flavour expect the raw smell of garlic. Mango lassi has bad taste as if it was stored for many days. The communication of the staff was very bad, not friendly. Not going again. I am giving one star as google doesnot allow me to give zero stars.
One of the best restaurant with excellent customer service along with best food that you like to enjoy. It comes with original and authentic Indian test. I recommend this restaurant as we enjoyed very nice food last weekend on 24/05/2014
Worst restaurant ever. No taste at all. Todays special was chillie Pakora so I order one, after 5 min they said they can not make it. Hahaha. What a. Joke When I request if I can change curries in Thali they said no. Too much salt in Raita... I wonder how they survive...we were the only two...My bad I decided to go there. It was pricey too. They changed prices with the pen in the Menu....Lesson learnt. Not going again.
The food is delicious and arrangements is excellent. Customer Service is one of the best and price of food is very reasonable in copmare to other indian restaurant. I will definetly visit this cusine in the future and if anyone want to do any family function then I will must suggest this restaurant.
