Our family's favourite fish and chip shop, and we've been to a few! The place is always busy but that means great food with repeat customers, and excellent staff means there's never a long wait to get a feed. We can get a great meal for a great price, it always works out cheaper than our other take out night options. Fish tastes delicious and light, battered or crumbed it's all perfect! Chips are always spot on.
Consistently good fish and chips, with a great vegetarian burger. Haven’t had that old oil taste on any occasion and we have been back every few months over the last 2 years. Good value for money and never had a bad service. Busy some nights so recommend a phone order, but fairly on time with predicted wait. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian burger. Gravy is vegetarian safe.
My mum and her partner have had me over at their place during the 3 weeks wait until moving into my new rental. Had been past the shop on a few occasions whilst on the odd afternoon walk, always seemed to be buzzing and busy. 2 weeks into my stay last night, got home later than usual and just wanted something easy, so I walked the few minutes down to get some crumbed Cod and some chips. They were flat out busy but I was served straight away by one of their friendly staff. The lady took the time to take my order, make sure it was absolutely correct and kept on going like a trooper. Food was conveniently quick even though they were snowed under with orders. There must have been roughly 15-20 orders on the go. Came back in under 10-15 minutes and the lovely lady who served me remembered me and handed me my order which I was surprised to find ready so fast! Well wrapped in paper, how it’s done properly! Walked back home to eat and what can I say; inside was a very generous serving of chips that were wonderfully fluffy on the inside with a nice crunchy skin. Perfect amount of good chicken salt, yummy crunchy corners. From there it just got better, my piece of Cod was a good, decent size, moist flesh that tasted nice and fresh. Not dry or oily like you get at a lot of places. Perfectly cooked in a delicious, fine crumb. It was just what the Dr. prescribed for me; quick, fresh, perfectly cooked, great chips, great value, served with a warm smile. Just what you want from your local fish’n’chip joint! The short time I waited I saw them making some delicious looking burgers and the menu had all the classic extras you could want and expect. They also had some well deigned looking family meals and platters featuring well thought out item choices at a great value price point which would make ordering for a family easy and a nice variety perhaps if you’ve got some mates over for a couple of cold ones! If you’re in the area, feel like a good feed without spending too much, Well, I can’t recommend this place enough! Dare say I might pop back for lunch tomorrow haha
Edit: Since my edit last night my wife has thrown up twice. Sort it out!! You, the owners are always there clean up your food handling practices. Edit: Since my review 2 months ago I have begun to taste other food on the chips. Whilst not particularly dangerous for myself, people with allergies or dietary requirements should be made aware and tread cautiously that the oil here is compromised. Original Review: Good food, not the best but when it comes to cleanliness and value for money it's these guys
It's the local fish & chippery. They know what minimum chips means. It's always busy. It's pretty basic. It's super cheap. I think I paid under $10 for a minimum chips and two scollops. I had to buy a can of soda because it was under their minimum EFTPOS. Grab a loaf of bread from Phelan's bakery, a bottle of TS from Spa, and you got yourself a chip sambo meal! Vegetarian options: Order chips and scollops for the vegetarian options. Obviously we don't eat fish and seafood, unless you're pescatarian. They have little salads too, and a vege Burger, which I've not yet tried.
Tonight was the last straw with Glenwood. We have come here on multiple occasions over the last 2 years since moving here and have been repeatedly disappointed. Almost every time we have ordered the expensive fish, we have found Issues ranging from bones still inside to inedible from unfreshness. We have refrained from complaining as the rest of the food was generally ok. That leads me to tonight, we found half of our order was missing, then when we called to tell them of this issue we were met with accusations and were basically questioned as to whether we were telling the truth instead of admitting to their mistake by two seperate people. Once we got in the car and drove all the way back down there we were made to wait to collect the food that we hadn’t been given in the first place, then given without so much as an apology. Extremely poor customer service, highly unprofessional, and I feel bad for the poor kids they have working there that have to be employed by these grubs. We won’t be coming here again and I would highly recommend that you don’t either.
On a good day it is very nice my favourite fish and chip shop. Wish I could give 4.5 stars it doesnt allow me to. Maybe once every 10 or so times its not the best but still edible is the only bad thing I could say.
Been going to Glenwood for over 10years+ never had a bad experience. But one thing, they need some air conditioning for those poor young ones slugging it out in the kitchen! Gets hot in there. Always happy! *Edit* Ordered $5 worth of chips. Terrible servings!
We ordered take away and our chips had literally no salt on them, despite asking for it. Staff were too busy having a chin wag.Food: 2/5
Pretty good chip shop. I really enjoy the battered Savs and the chips are pretty decent too. Worth the drive here instead of going to the place closer to home. Parking: Plenty of parking nearby for order collection
