The owner of Glen view Holiday Park uses this place as a means of extortion! As it functions as Emergency housing accommodation for beneficiaries the rent for a derelict, run down, disgustingly unkempt living quarters/Caravan/shacks is astronomically high because the means to pay it ultimately falls on Work and income weekly and if arrears occur. This place is below the basic needs threshold and something needs to be done to help the tenants into healthier living arrangements.
Very friendly people staying there and a lot cleaner this time than previous visit. Only camp in Tokoroa and now has new owners so hopefully they will provide sink plugs for visiting campers and the shower doors will be able to be closed properly so they can be locked for privacy. Would also like to see paper towels or air dryer in bathroom.
Its not all that gud but good neighbours
My partner and I just spent a few days there, it was such a great place for a break. We felt very welcomed by the staff, the place was neat and tidy. Our room definitely had a wow factor upon arrival, very warm and comfortable, the cleanliness was quite overwhelming. We certainly enjoyed our stay! Definitely recommend it and we will be back...
Spent there one night with a tent on my way from Auckland Airport to the South. After a 24 h flight i had a serious jetlag and did not want to drive anymore. Otherwise i would have moved on as this is not a recommendable place especially compared to other campgrounds i experienced in NZ. The staff wanted to charge 20$ but it said 10$ on the sign at the entrance. And even that would be highly overpriced as the cleanliness and the general condition of the facilities leaves a lot to be desired. On the other hand the old timey caravans and the ducks etc. make for a nice atmosphere. Most if not all other residents seem to more or less spend their whole life there so it is definitely not a typical tourist spot anyway.
Hello guys! Don't stay here! From my personal experience in 2019. Reasons: 1. No bonds back There is a high chance for you not to get the 150NZ dollars bond back. I have proof of paying every single weekly rent, but still the Manager Mele a cousin of the owner didn't give my bond back. 2. Poor management Mele said i didn't pay my rent on time, yes, that's true, but she closed her office door even in her working hour! Tell me, how can i pay the rent on time? She said some words with hindsight which i didn't appreciate at all. This accomodation is combined with a local tree nursery company, called Arborgen NZ unlimited.Working in Arborgen is fine, however please don't live in the accommodation. The company will not force you to stay there. 3. TV 24 hours on even during night After a whole day's work, we were supposed to relax. However, there was an elder guy lives in the livingroom for some reasons, and he didn't turn the TV off, though he didn't watch it. 4. Unexpected visitors Sometimes, the cousins of the owner will visit, they are not bad people but they did make the whole place in chaos. Once i remembered there were 4 or 5 children living there for 2 weeks and so did their parents. So annoying. Above all, dont stay there. You can find a proper accomodation around the town or nearby.
This is a rundown facility that is used mainly to house social welfare beneficiaries. The Tent sites we were first offered had no shade , we were then offered the only shady spot which we took but later realised was polluted with dog waste. Speaking of animals this campground was a veritable menagerie. Roaming dogs, cats and kittens of questionable health, ducks, peafowl...all adding to the litter and noise. There was no fridge or hot water jug in the kitchen. There was a microwave as the only source of hot drinking water. A chair in the kitchen area had blood splattered on it that was not cleaned during our 2 night stay. The price on the noticeboard was $10 per person per night. The office attendant tried to charge us $20 per night but later reneged. The people at the camp were friendly but this was no campground for families with young children or tourists who wanted to see an attractive NZ. We had just come from Awakeri campground which was so much nicer with free access to hot pools in the $18 price. For $10 this campground was tolerable for adults but it is not worth any more.
Brilliant welcomed by residents security after our travel went arye. I arrived with my 87yrs old pop and he rocked it. Even said words tranquil cosy atmosphere I say homely clean tidy kindness from staff found us milk tea bags for cuppa shower hot clean roomy 9 outstanding 10
I dont know how the bad comments. I stranded there with a broken car. The campground has a beautiful, upcoming owner. One of two inspiring peoples i met in new zealand. yeah there are many long therme campers and their are crazy. Haha but new zealanders are always crazy. I love them, most of them support you with all your stuff. Sorry for drifting up... toilets/ showers are clean and simply. U have much space. The kitchen is little bit small but the most campers are cooking in there own. I you can decide by yourself, don't take the ground under the trees, because of thousands mosquito's.
Not a nice place. The tent sites is actually a zone in the middle of caravans. The holiday park seems to be desafected from the outside and people are not welcoming at all. The kitchen is just composed with gaz, microwave and toaster. Not even a fork or a glass ! Someone I cross resumed this place with 1 word : "basic". I slept in way better places for the same price 20$
