Story

The Glen Hotel and Suites - a unique Hotel destination on the Brisbane Southside, features new 4.5-Star luxury Accommodation, the Garden Grille Restaurant And Bar, The Deck Bistro Dining and Bar, award winning Conference and Function facilities; all centrally located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast at Eight Mile Plains.

In 1863 Charles Baker bought the land on which "The Glen" stands today. By 1875 Cobb & Co. coaches stopped daily at "The Eight Mile Plains Hotel" on their way from Brisbane to Southport. Cobb & Co. coaches changed horses every ten miles and because of the permanently flowing Bulimba Creek this hotel became an obvious destination to establish a Change-station. The hotel provided hot meals and cold ale for the passengers, while fresh horses were being harnessed. Fast forward 140 years and The Glen Hotel is still serving delicious meals and cool beverages to the people of Brisbane along with providing a high standard of accommodation with the opening of the new 4.5 star Glen Hotel and Suites. The Glen Hotel is still a family owned and operated establishment, owned by the Fitzgibbons’ family, who bought the hotel back in 1960.

Since then, “The Glen” has come a long way, and is now a modern and popular destination for entertainment and dining, with the newest dining destination - the Garden Grille Restaurant and Bar specialising in premium, locally sourced steak, offering à la carte style dining with a focus on fresh produce and an emphasis on great wine.

The Fitzgibbons' family has owned and operated The Glen Hotel for over 50 years and have had a long held ambition to one day add accommodation to their award winning Hotel and Function venue. The Glen Hotel and Suites was the realisation of that vision, opened in June 2014. The Glen Hotel and Suites features luxurious guest rooms and suites, solar heated outdoor swimming pool and gymnasium. Designed by the award winning blueprint Architects the hotel offers well appointed, functional rooms with complimentary wireless internet throughout the property, on demand movies, Foxtel channels and in room mini bars.
