Have been a client at GFM for nearly 20 years now. In addition to the consistently sound financial advice, I have enjoyed the benefits of a proactive personal planning strategy.  At the crucial checkpoints turning 50, 55 and 66.5, GFM had coached me through the paperwork and legals - all completed in readiness to access a range of entitlements and benefits on the day they were available to me.  I always felt and still do well informed about "what was coming next" and most specifically - details and future intentions for each individual stock investment in my portfolio.  Expectations set. Expectations met. A sound business practice?  But oddly enough to me, the tell-tale evidence of GFM's excellence is repeatedly found at the quarterly lunch.  The first reinforcing observation is the number of staff who have remained with GFM for the past 20 years and more. When employees are proud to work for a particular organisation - there must be a good reason for that - and it shows. A big tick from me.  Good businesses retain their staff?  Secondly, random interactions with clients at the quarterly lunch is to me, another very positive indication of GFM's excellence.  Even during the global crises, attendees with smiles on their faces, all apparently quite content with their financial leadership and nearly all them - long term clients of GMF. When Douglas, the love of my life, died suddenly in 2004, he left behind a devastated wife and 14 year old daughter. He had worked as a CFO and CEO of several companies, and was a Fellow of both the UK and Australian Society of Accountants, so he had always managed our financial affairs.  I had worked for 37 years in the federal Public Service when I retired in 2006, and had a decent pension and what seemed to me a lot of money that Douglas had invested wisely. As such, I was unfortunately a prime target for unscrupulous financial advisors, of which there seemed to be quite a few at that time. Luckily a good friend, Judy Duff, referred me to Tony Gilham, and he literally rescued me from the clutches of one such charlatan. So in 2008, Tony set me up with a SMSF, and thus began a long, and for me pain-saving and productive relationship. From the start, James Malliaros has been my Advisor. James has been a rock, helping me to select good investments, steering me clear of potentially problematic share holdings and always providing a range of alternatives. Through GFM’s great resources, there has always been an abundance of information, and opportunities for investment that are well researched.  Douglas’s legacy has grown, his daughter has been well educated and is now General Manager of a multi-million $ company, married with a young daughter of her own. She is as grateful to GFM as I am.  Apart from the excellent financial services provided by GFM, I also greatly appreciate the social opportunities that they provide their clients: the golf days, theatre nights, seminars at the beautiful Leonda and Riversdale Golf Club, and since Covid, the ability to attend seminars without leaving home. The calibre of the speakers is amazing! The staff are unfailingly friendly, helpful, and efficient, and I have met many interesting people during such events.  When I look back to what might have happened, had Judy not told me about Gilham’s, I shudder and thank my lucky stars!
