We had sausage platter which was big enough to share between 2 people. It had 4 sausages with mashed potatoes and pickled vegetables. Would definitely recommend if you would like to try out all of their sausages. Had a German strudel for dessert and it was absolutely amazing! The sweetness was just right, although would prefer a tad bit more cinnamon would be great for me. There's live music as well during our visit, pleasant experience overall :
Got the pork neck after seeing quite a few reviews mention it! It was super tender and nicely swirled with some fat. The saltiness of the meat did get a bit much for me when I finished my sides.Food: 4/5
We are visiting Adelaide from Cairns and had Dinner at the German Spoon. The Service, the food and the ambiance was excellent! I would definitely recommend “The German Spoon” for a taste of traditional German food in Hahndorf.
Would give it a 3.5 The location is worth a 4, the glazed pork neck was fantastic and worth 5, the rest including the sausages unfortunately did not excite the taste buds much and would rate it at 3. Unfortunately have to say I don't feel it's worth a return trip.
Service came promptly and with a smile, such a lovely place to eat. Live music was playing at an suitable level and was such a delight. Food was delicious and came quickly. Highly recommend.
Used a scoopon. Platter was enough for 3. Ordered too much as usual. Schnitzel was one of the most tender I've had with delicious panko crumb. Tasty 5 meat pizza. All up possibly too much meat with all the sausages etc but that's our fault. The salad broke it up a bit and was also nice.
We had the platter through Groupon which was excellent value. Lots of meat - my kinda meal - and all very tasty, washed down with a dark ale. Polite, attentive service and was a great way to wrap up the weekend.
Had a lunch here, food took ages to arrive and was well below restaurant quality. Once food had eventually arrived the waiter didn’t even hand us each meal individually just placed it on the table. To make things worse we received dirty cutlery. Toilets had no soap or toilet paper and very evidently were not cleaned regularly. The owner was treating the waiter horribly while we were trying to order. Would highly recommend not attending this restaurant much better elsewhere in Hahndorf.
Generous portions, food was cooked well. Sausages were average. Didn't bring me back to Germany with the sausages/food. Texture and flavours not distinct. Schnitzel and pork neck were great. Would have been nice to have more saurkraut.
My partner and I just had a quick lunch here. The meal and service were fine. I thought I’d have an espresso and tiramisu for desert. The coffee was fine but the cake was dry, way too dry for Tiramisu. My partner and I both had a small taste, we both thought it inedible so I sent it back. I explained to the waitress and she offered her regrets but when it came to the bill I still had to pay for it. The waitress also handled the payment. Not good. It should automatically have been taken off the bill when it was sent back.
