This is one of the best market shops in all of Melbourne. Georgie is a legend and runs an incredible shop. Her selection of potatoes is the best in town, but it doesn’t stop there! She stocks all sort of seasonal root veggies and has an amazing selection of hot sauces, oils, mushrooms, truffles, chillies and more. Well worth a visit if your visiting South Melbourne Market. In fact it’s worth a drive across town for that perfect potato !
Georgie's Harvest is the most wonderful potato & root vegetable store located on the fun side of the South Melbourne Market run by Georgie's who is also wonderful. They also stock Rōnin chilli so they get our big tick of approval. Go check 'em out!
First experience was good here. Second time, recently came late afternoon on a Friday and grabbed a bag of 7 Sebago potatoes because they were out of King Edward, which was fine. When the lady charged me $18 for 7 potatoes and the price is $2.99 a kg, I thought it was strange, but unfortunately had to hurry off and thought perhaps I misjudged the weight. You can imagine my shock that weekend when I weighed them and there was only 2.5 kg! I figured it was an innocent mistake and tried emailing multiple times to resolve, without response from them. Make sure you double check if shopping here and question them if it doesn't sound right. Would not recommend!
Make sure to go inside and check out all the goodies beyond the flavourful root vegetables seriously, they taste better. This is based on a few years of experience.
Gorges Harvest has a lot of delicious food and drinks in her store. Gorgie and her staff are always friendly, polite and very helpful. I would highly recommend her to anyone that wants honey, eggs, mushrooms, olive oil, potatoes etc.
Georgie is always always amazing, her staff herself is always super helpful and her stuff are always fresh. I love buying my pumpkin, potatoes and carrots there, and they would always give a carrot to the kids to munch on. They have special stuff on for different seasons, like truffles in winter and they just got a stall for garlic recently, getting the garlic farmer in to set up a stall outside their shop. It shows they work closely with their suppliers which is really reassuring for me. I also buy my Olive oil there as well and you can have it refilled for a discount.
My fave shop at SSM. Georgie and mum are a delight and know their potatoes. They take great pride in selling only the best including the best carrots you will ever eat. They also stock seasonal delicacies such as morel mushrooms, porcini's etc and always have fermented black garlic available
Incredible experience the radishes are so fresh, carrots so sweet, leeks delicious and love the potatoes range
We LOVE this place. Excellent produce, often have rare seasonal things such as proper wasabi root or fresh porcini. Make sure you ask about truffles or mushrooms that are not on display. Often they're tucked away near the cash register!
Best shop for potatoes in the area. Yesterday they were doing some sampling of Chilli oil mix. That was divine. Adding to all my dishes since yesterday. Baked some potatoes bought from the shop and drizzled that chilli mix over it! Yumm!
