Story

General Food Co is the second food venture from brother and sister duo, Peter and Maggie Soukos. Located on Nelson Place, overlooking the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria, General Food Co is a contemporary cafe with strong ties to the local community. We source fresh and seasonal produce from local suppliers and add a touch of our Greek heritage to our menu. We boast home made baked goods and preserves and only offer free range eggs. At General Food Co, our philosophy is to provide you with great food and exceptional service that will keep you coming back for more

Very friendly staff bundled up with a very casual service area with good food. The environment is not glamorous at all but it has lots of character and looks very genuine like the dishes... Checkout the menu attached if you're around Williamstown beach.

Went to this cafe a while ago and had a beautiful lunch! The food and coffee were awesome, and it was a nice atmosphere. I went with my elderly Nan who can't chew very well and the chef offered to cut the crusts off her toast for her when I asked which bread would be easiest to chew. Amazing service, above and beyond!
Coming here always makes me happy, best warm salad bowl that I've ever had. Warm and exceptional service. I once ordered a salad bowl to be shared with my friend and the chef actually separated the one dish onto 2 plates nicely placed for us, its the little things that count. Big thumbs up for them
Great, family business and always make you welcome and comfortable. The food is top notch, healthy and prepared with care. AMAZING coffee. 5/5 stars is not enough to rate the General Food co. Love it!
I was looking forward to this place based on the reviews I read. Unfortunately it didn’t meet my expectations. The service was slow & unnatentive - We had to get our own glasses of tap water, but there were no glasses. Then there was no water & I had to bring the water cooler to the staff to fill up. The maple glazed pumpkin & chicken salad I had was flavourless and the chicken VERY overcooked....and that all for almost $20,-! The place is small & not super busy...expected more!!!
I used to come here when it was Cafe Breeze and all items on the menu were available subject to Bret's mood swings. These days things are a good deal more predictable. You know that you will get great coffee and good food. I still miss mad old Bret though........
I had the togarishi salmon, with broccoli & quinoa, my wife had the French toast, my eldest has the scrambled eggs and my youngest just had toast. The salmon was really tasty and the broccoli was good, but I thought there would be more quinoa and was a bit disappointed as it was a very light lunch, so much so, I finished my eldest's eggs, which were also very tasty. My wife was only just ok with the French toast, which didn't seem to have much lemon curd and was dry and without the ice-cream would have been hard work. The apples on top were very hard and just didn't really fit. The restaurant was nice enough to cater for our group though, as we were quite a few people. I did like the look of the Korean burger and would return to try it out.
Ran past this place a number of times but didn't visit till today. Shame as this place is gold. Generous portions. Delicious potato croquette. Smooth is enormous and worth the dosh. Great position in the sun on the weekend. Delicious.
