Geelong Train Station holds a special place in my heart. Not only does it serve as a vital transportation hub for the city, but it also boasts a rich history that adds to its charm.nnAs one of the oldest stations in Victoria, Geelong Train Station carries with it a sense of nostalgia and heritage. Its iconic 19th-century train shed, listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, is a testament to its historical significance. It's fascinating to know that this station has been a part of Geelong's story since it opened its doors in 1856.nnOver the years, the station has undergone several upgrades to meet the needs of modern travelers while preserving its heritage. From the construction of the current station building in the late 19th century to the recent installation of a new pedestrian overpass and CCTV cameras, each improvement has enhanced the station's functionality and safety.nnThe upgrade completed in 2015, brought further enhancements, including DDA-compliant facilities, brighter LED lights, and improved signage. These additions not only improve the overall experience for passengers but also contribute to the station's aesthetics and sustainability.nnGeelong Train Station is more than just a transportation hub; it's a symbol of Geelong's rich history and ongoing commitment to progress. Whether you're commuting to work or exploring the city, this station welcomes you with open arms and a touch of heritage.nnA heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in maintaining and improving this beloved landmark. Whether you're passing by on your daily commute or exploring Geelong's heritage, taking a moment to admire the station's architecture and history is a must.
Beautiful old station with great staff. Lots of connecting services and a well stocked cafe if you get stuck and have to wait for a bit. Plus it's close to town so a good location. Carpark could probably be bigger but it's not like they have space to expand!
Plenty of parking.. There's 2 kind of parking, this car park and another one in another side of platform 1. but thats only for V/Line customers and only limited 10 minutes park.nIf you park here, you must walk abit, go downstairs and cross inside the tunnel follow the sign board, not really dark at night but it is so quiet and feels eerie at night, like creepy feels. After that, go upstairs and you will find the parking lot for the customers V/Line limited 10 minutes only. Sometimes in the night you will find some kind of mad person keep talking to you and keep shouting like drunk. Shouting to you non-stop.
SORRY NOT SORRY!!!!nNo buses to Newcomb between 3pm and 4.30pm on a saturday!n10 people standing waiting, while 6 buses show sorry, not in servicenUPDATE....the buses now stop at random bus stops along the route ,.......try waiting at the bus stop for a bus that has been parked 2 stops before, outside maccas for the last hour!!!!!! Better yet,try sitting on a bus that randomly stops and waits when you are going someplace!!!!nPATHETIC
A WELL PRESERVED STATION FROM THE GOLDEN ERA OF TRAIN TRAVELnThis is quite an old station that still retains a little grandeur.nStaff are friendly. Stairs can be challenging for some!nIts the main railway station in Geelong so if you are travelling down from Melbourne for a day trip, get off here for the city centre and Eastern Beach.nThe train line pretty much runs parallel to the highway from Melbourne. You'll know you are almost at the station as the bridges and taller buildings of central Geelong start to pop up about 5 minutes prior.nStay on the train until South Geelong if you are going to the other side of the city.
