For those who have not been to the old Newstead gasworks area for a while, Gasworks Plaza may be a surprise. The old industrial wasteland is gone, in its place a busy, active mall, shops, parks and seating areas. Busy most of the week, more so on weekends. Glider bus stop located outside, near to bike and pedestrain paths.
Seek out the Standard Market store. It's a jewel for the perfect looking vegetable and the not so common brands. Good deli experience and suits the metro location and lifestyle.
I love this place. I go there almost every Friday afternoon. Very good choice of restaurants and shops there. I highly recommend.
My favourite go to one stop shop: Woolworths, gift shoots, optometrists. Vegetable shops, meat shop, florist, clothing, Chemist, Doctors, restaurant, post office, fitness, etc. the area is semi open air, it’s a pet friendly as well as children friendly, there’s a place where children can round around, ride their scooters or bike. The parking is free for 2 hours.
Parking is very expensive and so you need to be mindful to not go over the 2 hours or your coffee ends up being very expensive! That's the negative of this plaza, but the stores are great as are the services
