A lot of aboriginal art as you'd expect, some modern European art but not as much as I was hoping to see as I'm interested in all art not just one culture. The tours that explain the art are fab and free so definitely worth doing. You can spend as little as an hour to as long as you want here, depends on your taste. Not good for kids, please don't bring them, there's a café and there's big bag storage. Staff are very friendly.
Great selection of art and a brilliant way to spend a couple of hours. The gift shop also has some classics with unique covers which can be hard to find anywhere else. Reasonably priced too. Loved visiting, would definitely go back again
I love the exhibits artworks here, the modern art displayed is tasteful and refreshing unlike most "morderm art" in other museums which is literally trash. I also love how the galleries are setup and the flow of traffic is rather easy and the staff are really very polite and friendly. I wouldn't mind coming back here on the next chance I get to visit Brisbane
Great museum and we'll worth stopping past. We visited outside a peak exhibition, so would think it would be even better during an exhibition. Spacious and well curated. Will definitely head back when an exhibition is on. Update: definitely even more spectacular during a major exhibition.
We went to the Air Exhibition, like always the featured Exhibition was inspiring and thought provoking. The staff were very courteous and the toilet facilities were well maintained. As always I appreciated the cloaking room and adored the gift shop.
Came here mostly for The Soul Trembles. Highly recommend the exhibition before it leaves in October 2022. Truly a breathtaking experience. Incredibly eerie and beautiful and sad and jarring and graceful and please go see it. Left me truly depressed which might have been the point. It was gorgeous. The rest of the gallery is also lovely and we'll curated. I am especially enamored with a certain perturbing elongated furby. Lovely little gallery. Was a joy to peruse.
I went to see the AIR exhibition on a lazy Wednesday. The exhibition celebrates and acknowledges the invisible air we all breathe and that it is something we all share and need. At the venue, the staff greeted me with a smile and were very courteous and helpful. It was easy to navigate to the ticket office inside and I purchased an adult ticket which was priced fairly for the exhibition. Several different artists contributed to the exhibition and the works are displayed in different rooms, creating a different thought provoking experience as I ventured through the exhibition. If you are in the area and looking to escape the heat of the day I'd recommend visiting GOMA.
This cafe has a lovely aspect as it faces the river. The service is OK - not great but not bad either. There were hardly any customers but the table we were directed to hadn’t been wiped down. After 3pm you need to be ok with takeaway cups and plates to allow them to close by 4. We had coffee which was nice and carrot cake which was nice but tasted as though it had been refrigerated too long. Try it out if only for the view.
The closest parking lot to the GOMA was closed in Apr-22, we just found parking in a side street nearby. Very interesting gallery, budget 1 - 1.5 hours to tour the galleries and then a little more for exhibits.
Such a beautiful art gallery with so much history. All the staff are super friendly and are happy to help you. The exhibitions were just amazing! Definitely will be back
