GLENN - what a rockstar tour guide!nThanks for keeping it fun and interesting for all ages, while also informative!nReasonable priced tours for families.nThere is 2 small rooms of free museum type stuff to look at. Entry to the actual prison with stories costs, therefore I recommend booking before entering.
I love visiting historical places around the world and this was one of the best! The guide Andrea was amazing, and I could not thank her enough. We were a small group, so it gave her extra time to go through more of the history and anecdotes. She is so knowledgeable and friendly it made me feel comfortable and in all honesty, made the tour.nnI am a jumpy person, and while I'd heard the nighttime tour was awesome and highly reviewed, I dislike spookiness and creepiness. I asked for clarification before booking, and I appreciate the candour of the staff because I was able to book a different tour better suited to me.
We did both the Behind Bars tour and the True Crime tour. Both tours had exceptional tour guides and their knowledge and passion for what they do was what really made the tours. Would love to come back and do all of the remaining tours, such an interesting and historically significant place.
It was a great experience with my partner and daughter and her friend.nnJanine was so informative with the history and couldn't ask for a better tour guide with the wealth of knowledge and stories of the history of the prison that she has.nnThe only negative of the tour is the 1.5 hrs really isn't enough to see the whole prison.nnWill definitely be going back in the future for a different tour.
If you enjoy culture and history, this is a must do. We have seen the entire prison, cells and execution room included.There is a free area that is worth a visit with access to some musea and a nice coffee shop / bistro. Then, a variety of tours for about $23 an adult.
