Fun and exciting. It was so lucky to have such great weather for see the beautiful view of the glacier. It looked dangerous but safe with the gears.

What a wonderful experience from start to finish. Very professional, warm. welcoming and accommodating. Poppy was our pilot and a great host. Yes the experience is an expense but well worth it for seeing the two glaciers and putting the mountain range magnitude into perspective. Highly recommended.

Came here as part of a helihike. Quite the experience, definitely recommend.

I think this place is over-rated. Took 30 mins to drive 13km up the winding mountain roads. A bit disappointed as it has nothing really fantastic here. Would expect it to be more interesting though. Not recommended if you don’t really like mountains and rocks!

The glacier is amazing -There are plenty of various trekking routes but none for understandable reasons , get you near to the actual glacier. Heli / trekking excursions are available but booked out months in advance and coming with a hefty price tag of least $500 - $600 pp.  We did a 30min helicopter ride over both glaciers & landing on Fox to take photos for about 8mins - it was truly a fantastic experience.  The actual town of Franz Josef - there is nothing to do there and when we visited jan 2023 everywhere had acute staff shortages meaning delays to all types of food /drink service.

We went here on a heli hike and really enjoyed the experience.

The glacier has retracted to the point where it cannot be seen in the valley from the viewpoint if there is any high cloud.

Beautiful views, there is a glacier trail walk which would normally take 1.5 hours but access is cut off 30 minutes in due to the river changing its course and washing away some of the trail. Still a lovely walk but temper your expectations if you can!

Since the access track has been washed away it's only possible to get to within 3km of the glacier for a very restricted view. The road to Fox Glacier is also closed. Unless you can afford a helicopter tour the best views of these victims of the climate emergency are available on the postcards or Google images!
