Turns out that professional framing services are out of my budget but the owner was very understanding and helpful and gave me advice on where to buy the best quality budget frames. And if you’re in a similar situation but have a non-standard size photo/poster etc, you can use a larger frame and get a mat cut to size here! My friend loved her gift and I’m very grateful for the help :

Frames on Farrant is THE picture framer I go to, for the last 18 years actually. I asked my twins' baby photos to be in one frame in a specific way and the result was not only as what I wanted, but 10 times better with the colour of the mat, the sides of the windows for each photo and the display. The owner is passionate about his trade, knows his trade and respects customers' wishes. No job is too small. And the price is more than reasonable. A local gem business that I would support forever. And it's probably already a local business that everyone else loves like I do.
Some of the best service I've experienced. I went in today for some materials to build a frame myself. The store owner kindly informed me that he normally doesn't sell the materials by themselves, however he allowed me to purchase them off him. After getting the required measurements, the legend then proceeded to build the frame for me at no extra charge! All I have to do now is insert the picture, making a very easy task. The shops not local for me but if I need any more custom work done in the future, I will be revisiting Frames on Farrant. 10/10, absolutely recommend.

I took a piece of concept art to Frames on Farrant to get a custom made frame. Chris, the owner and frame-maker, was very friendly and very passionate about his trade. The options were seemingly limitless and the idea I had in my mind for how the frame should look is exactly what I walked away with. We agreed to not include a border to save me on costs, but Chris decided to include one anyway because he felt it looked better and would prevent the piece of art itself from having direct contact with the glass. He did this at no extra charge. I really appreciated him bringing his own artistic expression to the job as it really makes it feel like I'm getting more value for money, as opposed to some mass-produced, passionless, standard frame from any retail store. Couldn't be happier with the product I received and I highly recommend Chris for any of your framing needs.
I very rarely write reviews on google, but I feel compelled to do so for this business. I took a fairly small and simple, but sensitive item into the store on Saturday for repair, and the service i received all expectations one would have when dealing with someone for the first time. The professionalism from the owner as well as his empathy when dealing with my issue was brilliant. Thanks again.
