Absolutely loved the views out over 4 Mile Beach. The first shuttle bus driver didn’t know what we were talking about when we asked to go here. We grabbed a coffee at Surfies on the corner of Mowbray Street and The Esplanade and headed for the lookout. A reasonably steep climb at first but flattens out at the top. You can walk all the way around the hill to the other side of Port or do what we did and sit there and soak in the views of the amazing town and beaches.
It's a fantastically beautiful beach but does not allow dogs, even on leash. The beach front has too few restaurants and too little capacity for the single place that was open. Port Douglas, as a whole, was hugely disappointing.Visited onWeekend

Parts of the rails on the stairs up to the lookout are damaged, which seems unsafe, but the view is absolutely incredible, and it's a nice 2-3 minute walk up the stairs. Amazing little spot to watch the sunrise, make sure you check the weather and wind direction. Didn't stop us this morning though... perfect
