In-Depth Review: Start of Service 5/5 *Greeted politely to our seats. Full points. Food 5/5 *Pan fried beef dumplings: Crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. Was lacking juice, but still an amazing solid dumpling! *Seafood crispy noodle: Massive portion, crispy fresh noodles, all ingredients was fresh as well. Amazing! * * Value 5/5 *Big bowl of noodles and serve of dumplings was only $25. Very good value! Atmosphere 5/5 *Like stepping into Hong Kong market, many restaurants in 1 restaurant. Very very good concept you can literally order anything Asian here! End of Service 5/5 *Thanked politely and greeted off. Overall 5/5 *All high scores on all departments, I can say with confidence I will be back here. Well done!
Have to say really disappointed, they do a large variety of what the place advertised as "Tawianese" dishes, however of the 6 dishes we ordered, 5 were sub par. Wish they do a smaller varieties and better and more authentic food. The only dish was good was the the popcorn chicken. Stir Fry Pipes: so much sand in the pipes made it unpleasant, too heavy with the sauce which made it salty. Taiwanese food should be on the sweeter side. The Taiwanese style vermicelli: the vermicelli was not cooked through, not enough sauce, lacked sauce and flavour, was super dry overall and bland. Fried Oyster Omelette: had to hunt for the baby oysters, it was made it too thin so on the dry side, the sauce was wrong. Pan Fried Pork Bun: it is not as advertised in Chinese and the filling was more Chinese than Taiwanese flavour. This bun was first steamed and than pan fried which is not how it should be made. Pan-fried beef dumplings: I know it says dumplings in English, but pot stickers in Chinese and this was false advertising in Chinese. Lastly the filling was more Chinese than Taiwanese flavour. Overall did not enjoy and will not return. Should've listened to Taiwanese friends...
Highly recommend this restaurant for a quick efficient service. They have a few varieties of foods as well as a great selection of drinks and dessert. Highly recommend the dumplings and ma po tofu. Will probably give the steamed chicken a miss because it's a cold dish.
All round 3.5 star place None of the food was anything to rave about, but all was decent. Huge space but quite tight in certain spaces The sour spicy soup alone boosts the rating up for me If you can't handle too much sour, you should order some rice dish to go with it
What a great collection of Asian cuisine! Fantastic how you can order a variety of Asian food off the same menu which makes it very convenient! It has the street food vibe yet it's in a comfortable setting. We tried the truffle Xiao long Bao which is unique.Food: 5/5
Finally tried eating here. There was a queue during lunch time on a Sunday. Place has a nice night market vibe and very busy although the floor was dirty. Menu has dessert story, lots of nice drinks, Taiwanese street foods and noodles soup. Bento boxes’ price is very reasonable too. Ended up ordering a fried chicken noodle soup, beef pan fried dumplings, gluten with fungus, matcha drink with red bean and champagne milk tea. Noodle soup was subtle tasted, perfect for when you are sick and want comfort food. Noodle was nice and soft, and the amount of greens are a bit more generous than most places. Food came out pretty quick, like less than 10 mins from ordering. Fried chicken came separately from the noodle soup, was crispy on the outside, cooked well although I feel they can put more spice to make it taste more interesting. Dumplings came quite late, we almost finished eating everything before it came. It came with nice web decoration that is edible and taste nice too! Dumpling was crispy on the outside but taste wise it was a bit boring. The gluten with mushrooms was nice and sweet, although there is hardly any mushrooms in it. The matcha drink was really nice. Champagne milk tea is basically milk tea with no ice but cold enough for me anyway. It was pretty strong tea, more towards bitter but nice. Overall ok lunch.
Kitchen Republik in Boxhill has been around for ages and I still love the centralised food court feel of the place. As always, you write down your order after viewing your options from a giant menu. From Taiwanese meals to Chinese dumplings and Asian style desserts, this place almost has it all. The sunny bits: I love the variety of dishes and the ease of ordering items by writing them down yourself. This time around, we had the pan fried dumplings which came with a friendly flag warning us of the hot dumpling contents, mantou buns with condensed milk and a mango ice blended with pearls. Everything was delicious! The cloudy bits: The place is looking a bit run down and it’s always a little bit too dark but I suppose some people would say it’s lovely mood lighting. The forecast: If you don’t mind the mood lighting, then it’s pretty sunny all the way!
Best restaurants ever. I drive 40mins to come to this place every fortnight. Dine in and get take away back home for next day lunch too. Food very cheap very delicious staff also friendly.
A collections of well known asian food outlets trading as a single entity allowing you to buy multiple different dishes from different chains in a single order and single bill. Fabulous tasting food too
Not one of the best food I tried in box hill Some of the dishes does tastes like Taiwanese food. But I assume the owner not from Taiwan. Friendly staff. Nice pan fry chicken and prawn bao. Some food is too bland some is too salty. Order Taiwan's beef soup noodle couple times but sometimes just too salty for me. They need to make sure the standard recipe The egg need to pay extra.
