Biggest disappointment! Coffee was flat, not fluffy foamy like everywhere in Melbourne. My omelette was super salty- and I do like salt. The salad was salty . Being German and married to an Austrian I was expecting great bred. The toasted sourdough looked crunchy and golden but unfortunately was hard like a rock. It was extremely noisy and the service was not particularly attentive. Maybe the sandwiches are lovely- they looked tempting but I didn’t try them.
Very ordinary food and a long wait. The bread and pastries were nice but everything else we ordered were just bland. For an omelette and soup, we waited more than 40 mins and it was after the lunch rush.
Pleasant place to be in and the staff are nice. Horribly limited menu though and the fact you can’t get poached eggs is very weird! Croissant with “preserves” plural turns out to be a croissant with one little scoop of one type of jam, not 2 or 3 jams…
we both went for their new sourdough with macadamia and cashew cream, fresh tomato, roasted grapes, basil and basil oil, and shallot. what a delight!! the cream was beautifully lathered and tomatoes so ripe. complimented with pops of sweetness from the grapes, salty anchovies and peppery basil - this was honestly a mouthful of heaven.nnswipe for the absolutely SPOTLESS plates we practically licked clean. ‍nnalthough pricing is quite luxurious here this was $24 + $6 for anchovies its lunch heaven and a great spot for a little people watching.
One of the best coffees I have ever had, but unfortunately didn’t enjoy much else about the experience. We wanted to order another round of coffees and some sweets after our breakfast, but ended up leaving after about 30 minutes of waiting/trying to get someone’s attention.
