Fifty Acres used to be a go to Richmond showcase for breakfast, unfortunately they are now just another cafe, trading on past success. The menu is relatively unchanged but the food lacks the care and freshness they once served. Our breakfast this morning was not hot or fresh and tasted a bit boring. The service is quick, although the staff seem a little pushy these days. Coffee here is good and fitout is nice, but maybe a refresh is needed. A serviceable place to eat if pushed, but there is much better within a short stroll.
I stumbled across this place after a walk of shame and waiting for my hotel reception to open so I could get in my room. What a great surprise, coffee was good and man do they cook some great eggs. The venue is super cool and modern, and the food was god sent! Devine heaven in my mouth! Was a great hang over cure!
Enjoyable meal, good shade to sit in. Staff were attentive and friendly. The balsamic mushrooms were tasty as were the chili scrambled eggs. Fresh ingredients and a thoughtful menu. Also an interesting and quality fit out inside. Very much recommend trying this cafe out. Vegetarian options: Good, creative vegetarian dishes. Not your usual boring options.
Never again. Went there with a friend for late breakfast. 4pm they are closing. 2:45am a young women was turning on the vacuum and few minutes later she mopped the floor. We were very disappointed. Few seconds later more costumers walked in and four other tables were taken. I beleave the owner didnt stop her by any of her actions. He was busy on his phone. Glasses were taken from the tables with the finger inside of it. No hand washing in between. Disgusting By 3o‘clock outside tables got places in front of there counter. Half an hour later we have seen enough
What a glorious treat. From the minute you walk in the friendly staff are so on point and professional... a comfortable welcoming atmosphere gives a complete feeling of style and something different. I had the sweet delight of pumpkin hotcakes with citrus marscapone and syrup.. The waitress told me people like to share the serving and I can see why as I got through half... Hubby had the chicken burger and said it was really good and hot hot chocolate was fantastic.. 2 minutes from Adara apartments and right next to Epworth hospital 10/10
Went to this cafe for brunch. One staff member was friendly and welcoming and the other 2 were completely intolerant of my one year old baby. My baby was making typical baby sounds- not hysterically crying. The 2 staff members at seperate times rolled their eyes, screwed up their faces and were rude and unfriendly. No where did it state that babies/ children are not welcome. If staff can’t come to work and be polite and welcoming, they shouldn’t be in the industry. Incredibly disappointing and won’t be returning.
Won't be going here again for sure! Chicken Burger with chips and a Pineapple Celery drink. Chicken patty coating is burnt, chips were cold, and the brioche bun was falling apart. No taste, very bland! I am happy to pay for quality! Not worth $32 for this quality for sure! I could have had a nice crunchy zinger burger combo from KFC for $10.95! Team, focus on the food quality and not the funky presentations! Customers come for yummy food! You lose them forever with one bad experience!
3.6. Fifty Acres is a good cafe on Richmond Hill. It’s a busy little place with people coming in and out all the time. There’s a limited number of tables so you need to be on your game or in luck around lunchtime. I met a friend here today for a pleasant meal. I actually grabbed the fifty acres breakfast which was a pleasant affair without smashing it out of the park. He had the baked beans which looked good too. The coffees to finish were good as well. I must admit I thought the cafe. would be a few steps above what it was given the prime Richmond location, but it is what it is. I had a good time and you can’t ask much more in life, eh.
Lucky enough to get a seat before the crowds wandered in. The scotch eggs were scrumptious and rich and the omelette melted in my mouth! Delicious! Mushrooms were also done perfectly ... trying to find another reason to pop in for that omelette
Had the poached eggs on english muffins with beef brisket and really enjoyed it! I’m not usually a fan of meat, but this was delicious! Lovely place with a relaxing atmosphere, 100% recommend
