This Federation is not worth the paper it is written on, had a member mess our job up then lie, NFRC did nothing. YOU NOT NOT COVERED IF YOU USE A NFRC MEMBER "IS ALL BALL"
Not a few, not a half but the MAJORITY of roofers and roofing companies are cowboys/out to scam you/discriminatory to minority groups. The blame lies solely with useless organisations like this who do nothing to regulate the industry.
I urge any contractor registered with the NFRC to cancel there membership with immediate effect and any client to not engage with any roofer registered. We are a company that was registered for approx 8 years and they never once carried out any competence checks on us and charged a substantial amount of money. The whole scheme is a con. Find companies through genuine reputation, not like this
This organisation in my own experience is totally useless. I am a customer. I paid a large sum of money to a roofer in 2019 to replace my old slate roof with a new one, apply felt and battens. Less than a year fast forward, I am experiencing extremely stressful situation. Namely that water is gushing in through roof ridge on both chimney breast where lead flashing situated and to my dismay there is also very poor workmanship in the roof area around the chimney breasts. I have had 2 separate roofers visit and an insurance surveyor. All have stated that the lead flashing work to both chimney breasts is defective, that the roofer has used expanding foam to plug spaces around the chimney ridges surrounding both chimney breasts. He has also propped up the main horizontal roof joist with 2 bits of sawn off roof batten and has admitted this. This joist is now saturated with water and rotting. The roofer in question belongs to the NFRC and wears his badge with great pride no less. However, when I contacted this organisation, and finally got the regional manager to attend for a 'site' visit with his wife who was taking some notes!!! and a specialist roofer, the meeting was farcical. If it had not been so serious an issue, I would say it could have been something from a comedy sketch. The NFRC experience I have received has been nothing short of utterly deplorable. This organisation is unregulated, charging roofers a hefty sum to belong to an old boys network, who appear inept, lacking in professionalism, and cover their own backs at every opportunity. Despite asking for detailed information regarding my concerns, photos of the poor workmanship, leakage of water, the regional manager Mr Spragg advised me that he would send his findings to the roofer for his review and for editing before possibly sending me by return the report. My neighbour witnessed this outrageous behaviour and we are of the opinion that this organisation is not one to be trusted if one is a vulnerable customer who is on the receiving end of exceptionally poor workmanship which is verging on dangerous. Stay clear of any roofer who belongs to this organisation and don't expect any support from the NFRC. Total waste of time, energy. I am left having to pick up a likely large bill for work which I paid for in good faith and which has resulted in great damage to my property because it has been done badly.
The NFRC were dismissive, difficult and utterly useless. The first 'expert' I spoke to was extremely hostile and no help whatsoever with the bad NFRC member roofer I had employed. In the end, after a year of problems, I gave up and paid for the faulty work to be rectified by another firm. At this point, wondering if there was any redress at all, I contacted the NFRC again only to be told by a different person that the original advice I had had was wrong. They could have helped, but now, because another roofer was involved, it was too late. His apology was of no consolation.
Is this a joke? Who are these con-merchants? - its certainly not a government body or real trade association - its just a LIMITED company with no power whatsoever conning other unaware roofing companies into paying stupid amounts each month - One of the secretaries - Tanya Cooper - also owns competent roofer - Jesus!! I've checked them out - they need shutting down and exposing - all they want is to collect a monthly fee off people. Ill be informing the relavant authorities about them. DO NOT JOIN OR PAY THEM ANYTHING - If I could give them no stars I would have done. They resolved nothing and we got scammed out of £3,550.00.
Heritage Roofing and Renovation is a member of NFRC. I contacted NFRC to inform them of the treatment I received from Heritage Roofing and Renovation Ltd. They have not contacted me. MEMBER OF NFRC: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY: Heritage Roofing and Renovation Ltd Horsham - owner John Hildon Email from the company dated: 12th Nov 2015: company taking responsibility for the cracked glass. This morning email from the company dated 18th November 2015: company trying to blackmail me. Telling me to remove my comments from social media or they will not repair the cracked glass they damaged. I have reported this Checkertrade and CAB/ Trading Standards. This company is trying to hide how it treats its customers. I hired this company in Oct 2014 to replace a simple wooden flat roof and add a skylight for my elderly parents. We paid the Company £3,190. Within weeks of the roof work completed it began to leak. I called the Company to return to fix the leak and they kept telling me it was not leaking. After 11 months of chasing the company to repair the leak and causing my parents distress, Aug 2015 they finally stopped the leak but now they have put pressure on the glass and cracked it. When I reported the company to Checkertrade – they refused to contact me to try and resolve this. I have now reported them to Consumerline who have sent the complaint to Trading Standards. I have also contacted Watchdog. THIS COMPANY WAS PAID IN FULL ON 31st Oct 2014.
NFRC got back very quickly and was able to speak to a technical adviser who answered all the points raised regarding the re=roofing of walkway. Great service many thanks to them.
The companies registered with NFRC may or not be competent but they will have no compunction about ripping you off aka overcharging if you give them half a chance eg persuading you that it is fine to do a simple job at the alternative expensive price
Ive just had a roofer name of Danny of DTM Roofing, did a roof repair at the gable end wall for me, came to collect his cash the next day as he was busy, then demanded the cash while I asked him for his Invoice, then became aggressive and walked off after taking the cash, without giving me an Invoice or Guarantee, saying: Jog on to me....Ive sent him another request for these documents but if he doesnt, at least I got him to sign a receipt for it
