Faros, highly recommended by my fd, offers high quality fresh seafood at really good price. Love the oyster, cooked prawn and the lobster. Limited parking available directly next to the shop.
Best seafood shop. The food is fresh and quality, various to shop. The staff are friendly. Shop during the lockdown, very well organized and have the car parks. The price is special and cheaper than the fish market, very reasonable and I can buy more food from them. Highly recommended and definitely will go there again.
Best place to buy fresh seafood in the area. Their fish lasts several days more in the fridge versus buying at the supermarket. Queueing system seems slow at first but they are actually very efficient. I always buy oysters whenever they are on sale.
Faros Bad Day!! I went to Faros on 2 of November as I have been there many times. but my experience was just BAD. First there was a bad atmosphere; people were going around like zombies. My number 7 bad luck? was displayed for minutes without anyone attending to me in spite of I shouting 'I'm here!!" a few times. Them I called directly at least two people including one male, but got no reply. Finally I called a female-looking person, shabby, Asian looking eyes the rest of the face was covered with a mask and the skin was white. GOD! is she rude!! But not only that; she also gave me what she wanted, NOT what I asked her. Including a big fish when I was asking Cattle Fish. She covered the fish when placing if in the bag so I didn't see until I arrived home. The problem that fish could not be eaten because was all smashed for being together with the cattle fish. Then I asked oysters. She took a tray of oysters and turned her back to me, to cover the tray of oysters, I moved a bit to the side so could see her doing something to the oysters, like tipping it, I asked her tree times "What are you doing?", but she just ignored me. Finally I went to pay after she told me how much the fish was. So I assumed it was ready for me to swipe the card. I did, as it was not ready, it didn't work. Here she shouted loud and rudely: PUT THE CARD, ONLY WENT I TELL YOU...TO PUT THE CARD!!! --I was going to tell her to shove the fish, but my friend, told me," don't do it, this time." I will never be served by that "Asian and female-looking shabby person." I will ask for some other, because some are really nice. I have been buying fish from Faros for more then 20 years, it is still one of the best places to buy fish, though lately, some days, some of the fish and the "cutlets" and fillets, could be a bit fresher....sorry guys.... but the prices make up for it...just pick something else...or go back next day. Thanks for reading me.
Very good value for money. Seasonal fresh and salt water fish - whole or filleted, sashimi grade salmon & tuna, live mud crabs, offcuts, shellfish, squid, octopus and a frozen section. You can ask for whole fish to be cleaned and cut for you no extra cost but keep in mind you will be charged for the weight of the fish before it goes to the back for processing. First timers - take a ticket at the door and wait for your number to be called. Don't touch the produce.
The customer service left something to be desired. When my husband was enquiring about the prices about certain seafood a gentleman abruptly told us a couple of times to read the signs. Even though one of the ladies could have easily read the prices out to us, she just pointed to the sign. Whilst neither or my husband have a literacy or vision problem I'd hate to think what would happen if someone with poor eyesight or literacy issues would have felt being spoken to like that. Would not recommend this place at all. Their seafood is not cheap and yet the staff can't even be bothered to provide quality customer service.
Disappointing experience. We purchase from here for our small cafe and spend close to 1200 - 1500aud a week. We will no longer shop here. They treat you as a number, not as a customer. We rang up to complain about some items we purchased and we were not assisted. Prices here are much higher than they were in the past yet quality has only gone downhill. Some items are not fresh like they used to be. This is disappointing as we have been going here for many years.
This is the best seafood shop that I know of, with a variety of seafood that rivals ones within the Fish Markets. Here's a list of what I normally get here: - salmon sashimi $40/kg - salmon portions $22/kg - sea urchin roe - variety of octopus, squid & calamari - oysters Needless to say, the seafood here is fresh and sometimes you see a line outside the shop which for me is all the validation I need. TIP: There is a ticketing system, so grab one at the entrance and wait for your turn.
I was ther today honestly it's just an average fish shop , not as fresh I walked around checking the fish quuilty so I can buy snappers or something else never was satisfied. Even the fish cutlets it's was not fresh , I bought hearing hopping when I get home I won't get disappointed with there scale cleaning . I have been is so many fish shops , the only fish shop display fresh as fish is North terrace at Bankstown . Nothing special for me here .
Spent the weekend cooking rather than dining out after checking out the local seafood supplier, Faros Brothers Fine Seafood Providore, located in my new neighbourhood. Spending less than $75 for three generous meals we ate sake-steamed vongole, yellow coconut curry mussels and scallops on the shell with lemon, skordalia, butter and Lulu's Sydney Remedy chilli oil, plus some XL tiger prawns in the same treatment that I forgot to photograph. Reasonable labelling of country of origin allowed me to make decisions about provenance, though I would have liked to know where the Sydney rock oysters were from without having to ask. While undeniably popular with Marrickville locals, the Faros Bros. queue is fast-moving and there are COVIDSafe procedures in place.
