As a food enthusiast, I was pleasantly surprised by the Mpek Mpek sampler at Famili Ria Restaurant. The mix of flavors and textures was well executed and the accompanying sauces added an extra layer of flavor. The Nasi Goreng Famili Ria was a standout dish, with a well-balanced blend of spices and a generous serving size. The Pangsit Goreng was also a highlight, with a tasty filling and a satisfying crunch. The kerupuk udang, or shrimp crackers, were a nice touch and added an interesting flavor to the meal. Overall, the food at Famili Ria Restaurant was enjoyable and the friendly service and atmosphere only added to the positive dining experience.
Best pempek in Melbourne and I always order it with a side of mie ayam pangsit. So filling but worth it. Definitely not there for the ambiance or decor but the food speaks for itself. Can't wait to return.
It has the best fried rice, must try! All other foods are also good, especially the fish cake. The place is always clean with friendly staffs. Love it! Thank you!
The place was very easy to find. For people who are not familiar with Indonesian dish the photos of dishes are quite helpful. We went there at dinner time, the food was quickly served, we ordered fishcake omelette, mixed beef ball soup needle, octopus balls and vegetables. For us, the food was a bit too sweet when savoury taste was expected. Other then that, the restaurant is clean and quiet, recommend for those who would like to try something different from Chinese food in Box Hill.
Nice Indonesian eatery with a decent selection of food. The fish cake is amiss try. The texture is smooth yet filling and goes very well with the sauce. The chicken noodle is very spicy and appetizing while the grilled chicken is tender and nicely marinated. Only gripe I have is the interior of the place is very sterile and doesn’t add to any of the mood for a nice meal.
Quite authentic Indonesians fried fish cake. If you asked for spicy, it'll be Indonesian spicy ie really hot. You've been warned. We also tried the noodle with green chilli as well as the grilled chicken. Both are also enjoyable. Staff is friendly. Fish cake portion is on the smaller side, the noodle and chicken are good size.
The pempek at this establishment is the star of the show. Came by this shop as we were just stopped by to another shop close by. I ordered the spicy Chicken mushroom noodles, barbecue chicken rice and pempek. The pempek is fried just right and the sauce with it was just divine. The pempek is exactly what I can get from Indonesia and absolutely wonderful. The noodles was springy and spicy. The barbecue chicken was a tad too dry for my liking. The service was minimal and nothing to shout about. I would recommend this place for a meal of good old pempek, which is a traditional Indonesian fish cake.
3.5 stars I took two kidlets out for lunch and heard great things about this Indonesian cafe. The kids were Hangry so I already looked through the menu and decided what i would order. I went up to the counter and waited while the staff was doing some random stuff, then waited and waited and waited because rather than serving a person in front of her she decided to take a phone order instead while my two kids are screaming they are hungry technically if she could answer the phone, she could have taken my order right? I ordered Chicken satay, egg omelette fishcake w noodles, red chilli chicken noodles, with chicken and mushroom and a chicken noodles not spicy with mince chicken. The chicken satay was outstanding, beautifully flavoured and the chicken was so succulent. A definite must eat here. The egg omelette fishcake was a bit weird. I thought it’s a noodle soup dish w plain omelette and fish cakes on the side, but the fish cake is inside the omelette and it was a bit gluggy and it doesn’t taste like fish, it just tasted like nothing much IMO. The “noodles” on the dish was just a scattering of noodles as condiment, not the main item the dipping sauce was yummy, although I probably won’t try that again! The mince noodle dishes are great, but their chicken and mushroom noodles are less stellar. The chicken I got was a bit tough, I would have expected chicken thigh cuts to be used. I would probably have their chilli noodles w chicken mince next time.
They serve many types of delicious Indonesian food here at a low price. Satay, Fish paste, Indonesian Curry, Noodle, etc. Friendly staff and environment.
Very yummy for Indonesian dish.. the only halal dish is the one only with chicken, the beef they claim is not halal certified .. no pork is served. They charge you extra 50 cent if you use eft.. i wonder why.. service is good and place is pretty clean. Nice to take a family for lunch or dinner
