I have had both the experience of being a patient as well as working at Fairfield Hospital. While my review is negative, I don't wish to devalue the professional worth of the few courageous staff here who demonstrate those (unfortunately) rare qualities of empathy and understanding. It's difficult to write a negative review for any healthcare facility, because one likes to believe that people enter into healthcare with the right intentions and that they try to best help people with the (often limited) resources available. Certainly at Fairfield Hospital, a lack of resources is very noticeable (worn furnishings, dreary amenities), but this is perhaps inevitable as it's quite a small hospital, with most funding directed to Liverpool Hospital, the metropolitan hospital for the South-West Sydney Local Health District. But this doesn't account for the most appalling behaviour that I've seen at this hospital, both as a patient and a worker. Behaviour that can only be viewed by any reasonable person as racist, condescending and plainly unethical. I find that this is largely embedded in the professional working culture of this facility, where staff distrust one another and jealously guard their own roles as if they were Medieval manor lords ruling over a fiefdom, and where patients are treated as little more than inconveniences. And this is a disgrace and an utter disservice to the community of Fairfield (who truly deserve better), as this sort of professional culture only serves to drive away hardworking and decent staff, and to grind down those who remain until they come to regard patients with indifference.

Amazing A&E , and High Dependency ward. My mother in law has been admitted several times times very ill. Every time nursing staff and doctors have been amazing. Can’t thank them enough for their knowledge and caring. Well done Fairly Hospital!

1 star is too much for this inefficient hospital. I dont know how they are still open. I wouldnt go back to this hospital if i was facing a life threathening condition and it was the closest hospital. I heard alot of negative feedback about this hospital but always thought well maybe the hospital is either under staffed or the person telling me didnt knoe how to communicate properly to staff to resolve the medical issue.... I thought id try it seeing as it was the closest to me. I gave birth at this hospital it was a terrible experience. The nurses didnt perform the correct checks to determine baby was in a posterior position, which then enables doctors to manipulate the position for a smoother birth. Labor is hard enough but due to their negligence and under staffing issues, because of the position as my daughters was coming down the birth canal the back of her head was scrapping my spine. When she came out the nurse gasped and said 'Oh you're the wrong way! '.... I wasnt able to walk for four days and becauae of the extreme pain, my body went through shock, my normally mild asthma became chronic... Distaster. If my children or I need emergency services we go to Westmead which I can tell you have very effecient doctors and nurses.

Unbelievably rude and arrogant nurses! Their presence is meant to help keep the patience at ease. Their staff have such a bad reputation that i myself and others I know just absolutely hate the phrase "fairfield hospital" !!! If I could give no stars I would!!

Would not recommend.. Grandma was submitted after falling and hitting her head. Doctors and nurses were rough with her and did not explain whatsoever how she was or what they were even doing. Care factor was 0. Also at night when all the patients were trying to sleep, the nurses would not shut up. They were literally gossiping so loud about their previous patients I had to personally ask them to be quite twice. Grandma is so distressed. She's been in the hospital FOR 5 DAYS. When she was suppose to be home after 2 only because NO DOCTORS WERE AVAILABLE TO SEE HER. Fairfield hospital is absolute garbage, you're better off at Liverpool.
