Paid for two Gold Class tickets. Mobile data would not work inside the cinema so we connected to the cinemas own wifi to purchase snacks and drinks to our seats. This did not work either so we had to leave and miss some of the movie to go purchase our snacks. Which took another 20 minutes to arrive.nnWould be 5 stars if we were able to utilise the facilities in which we paid extra to have
Worst service ever, booked online but you still must line up in a long queue to collect your tickets, the carpet on the floor says priority guests but there is only one counter allocated to online bookings and the queue quickly builds up, very poor planning from management, the girl who was at the counter was so rude and obnoxious, didn’t give us fresh popcorn but prepared ones from a box stored below whereas others were getting fresh popcorn.nFinally got tickets but there is no clear signage vmax -1, you keep wondering if you are in the right cinema.
I’m extremely disappointed by the way I was approached tonight at this cinema, especially considering I have been coming here for years and have also hosted many events here through both social and business connections.nnAs my partner and I were walking toward Gold Class, a blonde staff member loudly and abruptly called out, “Do you have tickets?” in a way that felt more like being confronted than greeted. I was completely taken off guard and replied, “Yes, we do, we’re heading to Gold Class,” only to be met with, “No you are not, I need to see your tickets.”nnAt 5 months pregnant, I found the tone and manner incredibly rude and unnecessary. In over 10 years of attending cinemas, including many Gold Class visits, I have never been spoken to in such a disrespectful way.nnEven after I showed the email confirmation, the interaction remained rude rather than professional or apologetic. My parent is Black, and the way I was approached left me feeling uncomfortable, singled out, and disrespected. It genuinely felt discriminatory.nnWith the current cost of living, Gold Class is a luxury for us, and tonight was meant to be a nice evening out after paying for a babysitter. Instead, I’m sitting here upset and honestly wishing I had stayed home.nnSadly, after this experience, I’ll be sticking to Charlestown Square for future movie nights.
Do not go to Event Cinema Kotara unless you want a movie experience ruined by non-stop talking, yelling and running up and down the aisles by teenagers. I have gone three times now, thinking the first or second time was an unfortunate one-off, but it is constant for all movies. The staff do nothing to control the behaviour so it is the norm for most screenings at this venue. Waste of the ticket price.
The cinema itself was extremely clean and the workers so kind. The seats are just old and hurt my back towards the end of the movie. The screen is not as big as a cinema you'd find in sydney. Nice place though.
