This business is fraudulent and we should all collectively report to Fair Trading NSW I am lodging a complaint today now that I am home. Of course I knew airport exchanges have relatively poor rates for the convenience, but I do believe I was actively misled as the rate on the board was different to the rate on my receipt, also the seller kept saying he could only exchange higher amounts and was unethical when I questioned him. I know it is my duty of care, however, there are too many comments here that signify some form of fradulence. I exchanged $160AUD for $21000 Sri Lankan. When I got to Sri Lanka it only cost me around $100 AUD - this is an unethical premium. Do not trust the employees here, they are trained to mislead.
If I could give 0 I would. I had a terrible experience with Global Exchange at Sydney International Airport. As a young student travelling on a budget, I trusted the lady at the counter to exchange my money fairly. Instead, I was completely taken advantage of. The exchange rate I received was outrageously low, and I later found out I had been charged hidden fees that were never clearly explained to me.nnThe woman serving me seemed nice at first, but looking back, I realise I was rushed through the process without being given proper information. I feel completely scammed and disappointed that a company operating in such a major airport would treat people like this—especially students and young travellers who rely on every dollar.nnPlease be careful if you’re considering exchanging money here. You’re better off using a bank or doing it online in advance. I will never use Global Exchange again.
This is total scam. I asked the woman at kiosk how much A$1500 in NZ$. She said it $1498.50. I thought it is quite unfavourable while official rate should be around NZ$1665. However I accepted it because I was able to pay by debit card as I haven't got cash and I could not see atm nearby. She counted the money in front me and I trusted her it should be the said amount. She said she would send receipt by my email. Later I checked in and counted the money and I found it was nz$1405 and checked email which showed rate as 1.06666, taking A$1498.50 from my account. I can see she took advantage of rushing and trusting traveller into the trap. She was totally deceiving. She should have told me it is nz$1405 instead of $1498.50 vaguely. She took almost nz$260 dishonestly.nShe should be arrested for her scheming. Funny thing was she let me sign on the paper to protect her in case of dispute. I admit my stupidity but this kind of kiosk should never be allowed in the airport.
This place is totally fraudulent and giving people doggy exchange rate like I got today when I have exchange my AUD to thai bhat. I haven't got the same exchange rate as they didn't let me see the rate they were charge me way too high then the rest of the exchange and gave me the fake exchange rate. Please be aware of them. It happened in the international airport in Sydney.
Embarrassed to say I got taken. I was in a rush and travelling solo with kids, and didnt realise they added 20 basis points to the exchange rate. It was a difference of $150. Do not make the same mistake I did. A big kick in the guts before an overseas holiday.
