18 May 22. My partner and I dined for lunch for birthday celebrations. We were greeted by Sean as we walked in, led to our table and shown menus. We ordered 2 glasses of Paul Loius champagne $12 each to start, it was delicious. We wanted to order the carpaccio and mussels for entrèe but Sean advised supplies hadn't arrived yet, so we ordered the salmon terrine $20 which was delicious and the tomato and olive tart $18 which was very nice but not a traditional tart. It was a small square piece of puff pastry topped with a spoonful each of goats cheese and olive tepanade. A few more small dollops of goats cheese and tepanade were around the plate with a few small pieces of tomato. We ordered a bottle of Port Philip Pinot Noir $65 which we enjoyed with our mains. The mains we ordered were the pork belly $38 and the slow braised beef cheeks $37 and a side of green beans $10. Although there was little meat on the pork belly, the crackling was good and the beef cheeks flavoursome. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate fondant with cherry icecream $15, it was so good. My partner ordered 2 cheeses - a blue and a cheddar which came out with crackers, bread, sliced pear and a jam $16. He enjoyed this with a glass of Pedro X Sherry $10. Such a lovely experience.
The gnocchi and the potatoes were quite tasty and a definite must order. The cannelloni was pretty tasteless and was slightly watery. The tiramisu was quite runny and the creme brulee was pretty tasteless too. The staff were friendly and food was served quickly. Overall the food was quite average for the price.
A really disappointing xmas family dinner for 10 of us. We had hoped to find a quality local restaurant for special occasions, but unfortunately this did not turn out to be the case. Scallop risotto on flat plate looked unappealing when served. It was overcooked near mush, didn't even look like arborio. no starchy goodness...doubt small scallops were fresh and more likely frozen, peas same. Pasta same, overcooked...no way near al dente. Steak was tiny, also past ordered rare/med. 3 carrot slithers and potato slices , some juice smeared on plate. Side salads were very small ordinary dressing. Deserts were best part of food...nothing super amazing, but yum and enjoyed by all. Restaurant atmosphere ok...service was attentive and only vague positive for the night. Overall way overpriced for quality and quantify of food. Only recourse is to not return. Owners need to cease taking their customers for a ride, price and value needs to be matched with quality Ingredients and cooking.
Yummy food, good service, good price. I will be back and soonFood: 5/5
The lamb Wellington was delicious, the scicillian muscles wasn't so good, the sauce was too diluted so you couldnt really taste anything but garlic. Seasoning was a bit inconsistent as some dishes was very salty and some were just right. Service was a bit mmmm... And if you don't like confined spaces probably not the venue for you. Mid rating sound about right.
Food was not too bad. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive despite dining when it's a full house. Food can be a little pricey here but if you're resourceful you can find good deals online. Pasta was good and the risotto is not your usual creamy fare. It's light and refreshing. Go for the mains. That's where the bomb is.
NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE! Their orange juice was rotten, food portions were tiny and the owner and waiters were absolutely horribly rude. If you want to come to a place where the staff verbally abuse you this is the place. Please check out other reviews about the rude manager, and the whole menu is a scheme, with a big discount promotion you will get a fast food quality and abusive words! Adding photos, if you wanna order a $40 steak with half size and beckon wrapping around to make it look good, or $20 entree saying seared scallops then you got two of them and served cold unfreshed
Update-- 23rd July 2019- so much better than the last time. Good food and service, and you can see from the photos that the dishes are getting better. Lovely staff and restaurant! Convenient location and not too busy. Food was good but slightly small portions. Great for a romantic dinner or just small groups catch up. I suppose you can always book the whole place out for a small party as well!
Intimate place, Good service. Food left a lot to be desired - presentation and taste needs more care and effort. Dessert was tasty though!
Tasty food, small servings, professional service, not value for money overall. I came here for dinner with my husband as we had a 50% off deal. I had the duck with onion tart & pea puree followed by the honey panna cotta. The food was very tasty, but serves were small. Luckily I'd had a big team lunch that day and wasn't particularly hungry so the main and dessert were just right. Otherwise I'd recommend getting entree and/or sides as well to avoid going hungry. The service was professional & timely though not particularly friendly. A couple more smiles wouldn't have gone amiss. Overall a nice ambience and experience, but without the deal I don't think it would have been value for money.
