"Experimental cuisine with a personal touch" - The Age

Story

Melbourne’s Northside has established a reputation as the go to destination for serious dining, and pioneer restaurant Estelle, five years since opening, is proving the staying power of the northern food movement.

Commencing with a small budget and just six tables, owner chef, Scott Pickett has humbly grown his establishment that now includes an upstairs private dining room for up to 24 guests and a newly renovated covered courtyard with additional seating.

The courtyard provides a verdant, open space for lunches, dinners and private functions, while the private dining room is elegantly decorated, perfect for corporate dinners and intimate events.

Estelle by Scott Pickett (ESP) is located at 245 High Street next door to Estelle Bistro. The concept of the venue is a high end dining experience delivered in a bespoke setting designed by Scott himself with international architects Hirsch Bedner Associates. Diners will be treated to a tasting menu that Scott has drawn influences from his entire career to create. The project has been almost a year in the making and was the obvious sibling to put next to the bistro. It achieves what Scott had always wanted; the complete offering. A destination venue on one side where the fit out, the menu and the service have all been designed to create a very indulgent experience. Alongside it, the local; a place that you can approach anytime, to relax or to catch up, where the offering is reliable and great value.

"Scott Pickett’s Estelle is a modern Australian restaurant on High St, Northcote, designed to suit all occasions. Whether stopping by for a glass of wine and a share plate or a full tasting experience, guests can find home in the all-encompassing venue."

A fantastic dining experience with exceptional food. Upon arriving at Estelle we were greeted and led to our table. The staff were super friendly and helpful guiding us through the food options and answering any questions we had. We opted for the 5 course chef's tasting menu, once we ordered the food started arriving quite soon after we were very happy with this as we hadn't had lunch. The snacks were a great selection of various small items to get the palette going. Following this the rest of the courses were exceptional. Sometimes chef's menus can end up with leaving hungry, but that was not at all the case. It was probably for the best that we hadn't had lunch as we both left feeling full. On a side note the drinks were delicious too. Overall it was a wonderful experience all round. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating with dietary requirements.
Celebrated 2022 here the evening before New Years eve. Our waitress was the best waitress I have ever met in my life! We were a big party and she was so attentive - another staff gave my sister's dessert to my brother in law but when she came back with the rest of our desserts she switched them back immediately. She remembered what everyone had ordered. She was also very patient with our table as I have two children under 2. Our amazing waitress communicated to the kitchen to have certain elements on the side, such as avocado cream in a separate bowl so as not to be contaminated with the beef tartare, curry broth in a separate jar so my child can eat the roasted eggplant without tasting the heat. And they served teeny, tiny scones to my toddler. So cute! The establishment went above and beyond to accommodate me which I am so thankful for. The only suggestion is the restaurant could be more child-friendly. They could maybe introduce a kids menu in the future. There weren't any changing stations available in the washroom, which is a slight inconvenience. They do have high chairs however. Overall, great food, great staff, great experience.
We were thoroughly impressed with quality of the food and service at Estelle. We enjoyed a custom made, allergy safe set menu and every dish was delicious. The private dining space at the rear of the restaurant is also perfect for a special occasion. The standout dish was definitely the wagyu beef tartare with mushroom XO. Absolute perfection.
Was here for Valentine’s Day. The food here is always amazing. We enjoyed the set menu on offer. Highly recommend
My dining experience at Estelle was great! Attentive staff and beautiful minimal ambience. Love it! The menu is modest in options, but all very interesting and it was hard to decide, so we choose for sharing a couple of dishes. As entree, we had the Octopus marvellous with harissa and the tartare. Both very well presented. For main, we had the barramundi the sauce was incredible!! and the duck, also very very delicious and rich in textures. It was really hard to chose my favourite. Although the portions were quite small, they were very fulfilling and unfortunately there was no space left for dessert. Definitely coming back to try! The only suggestion that I’d recommend, is thinking finely about sharing meals. We decided to start with the barramundi and at the time we had the duck, it was a bit cold. Solution would be decided the main course in two, having time to have each of the dishes in separate times. Thank you for having us, the experience was lovely!
Had a midweek celebration and booked for steak night at Estelle a few weeks back. The steak and wine for $40ea is great value. We sat at the kitchen bar, which for me - being a retired chef - was great entertainment. The steak was cooked perfectly, and we opted to add bread and some sides. Accompanied wine was delicious. So greatful to have such a great restaurant in our neighbourhood.
Had the burrata, baby octopus, potatoes, steak with chips and the duck. The entrees were pretty good, the flat bread that came with the burrata was delicious but the burrata was a bit underwhelming. Also had to wait like 45 min between between entrees and the mains which was a bit disappointing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the duck was delicious. The side dishes chips, cabbage etc. were so good. The chips were super crunchy.
I’ve long talked about trying Estelle and finally made it there last night for a celebration. And what a wonderful night I had! The space was amazing and the staff very attentive, friendly and welcoming. We went for the tasting menu which was superb. Every dish was exciting and delicious, while the beef tartare was the best I’ve had. The chef also treated us to a new dessert she was testing. Yummy cocktails and wines topped it all off. Would definitely recommend - A+
I caught up with some old friends last week and we had an amazing time at Estelle. The food was perfection and the staff were so generous and beautiful. I am pregnant and I felt Estelle went above and beyond to accommodate me. Everyone was so kind and the whole experience exceeded our expectations.
We’ve become regular visitors to the Estelle over the last few months and love their Sunday roast lunches. A rotating three course meal with a glass of wine for $50 is great value and the food is amazing. The staff are great who make the experience much more than just a fine dining experience. Would highly recommend as a place to catch up with great company over a mouthwatering menu.
