"Youturn Youth Support formerly United Synergies is a not-for-profit based at Tewantin that was started 30 years ago to address youth homelessness in the Noosa region. Since then, the organisation has grown substantially working with young people and those that support them, expanding their focus to include Child Safety, Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and of course Homelessness. Our humble beginnings started as a Youth Homelessness grass roots project in 1989 with the Noosa Accommodation Project NAP which was officially launched by 5 volunteers supporting six young people. We have grown significantly since then to work at 14 locations across Southern Queensland with a staff base of 180 employees and last year helped over 6,000."

If you don't work here, be grateful! If you are thinking of working here, whatever you do, don't! If you work here, be warned and be careful. If management ever tell you they want to have a 'without prejudice' or 'off the record' discussion with you, be aware of this: There is no such thing as a 'without prejudice' or 'off the record' discussion that an employer can choose to have with an employee. An employer does not have the ability to suspend their legal obligations to an employee or enter a discussion with an employee in which there are no consequences for what they say or do to the employee. 'Without prejudice' is a term used by lawyers when trying to reach an agreement in litigation processes. It has absolutely no applicability in workplace situations or in employer-employee relations unless there is litigation already underway between the parties. If you’re not a lawyer you have no business ever using the term. Just a few minutes of online searching shows that Australian and international HR experts recommend employers never propose having a 'without prejudice' or 'off the record' discussion with an employee. This is obvious and uncontested in most workplaces and any HR staff suggesting otherwise are either not well informed or are not being truthful with you. In Queensland, you have the right under the Privacy Act to make an audio recording of any conversation of which you are part, even without the consent of the other party. You can not publish or distribute this recording without consent unless in legal proceedings, however it is entirely legal for you to record any 'without prejudice' or 'off the record' discussion with an employer who has proposed this improper course of action. Being able to take an irrefutable record of the discussion can be very important for you to protect your workplace rights and to have evidence should those rights be violated under the false cloak of a ‘without prejudice’ discussion. So if management ever suggest this to you, your options are: first, you can refuse the proposed 'without prejudice' or 'off the record' discussion and remind management that anything they say to you or any other employee will always be on the record, or second, you can agree and then record the conversation, noting you can do this legally without asking for the consent of management. Best of luck to anyone working at Youturn!
I welcome what their intentions are. But as a neighbor of one of the houses they put these kids into it has been a constant nightmare of Swearing all night arguments drugs, police ambulances. It's all ok until it moves in next to you. Peace gone, constantly woken at night and the carers dont seem to have any authority over the kids.
