My girlfriend and i regularly buy take out coffee here and are usually satisfied. However today we decided to sit down and eat our sushi with coffee we purchased. We were asked to leave by the owner, despite being the only people there. The owners first reason was that our coffee was ordered as take out, then he changed his mind and said it's because we had outside food. I would understand if they were busy but the place was deserted. I argued this point but he was unreasonable and very rude. Although i had been polite, he still gave us both dirty stare as we walked past 5 min later.

Went to Epitome Cafe for a coffee with some other school parents this morning. We were all happy with the quality of the coffee indeed, one thing that Epitome does well that is sadly missing elsewhere is that they deliver hot coffees - all too often they are just warm.  We were not happy with the service in that two staff seemed to be forever hovering - waiting to grab empty coffee mugs.  One of our party had their mug grabbed before the contents had been enjoyed.

So what started out as a " lets pick up a coffee from Lane cove" turned into an abuse from the Café owner. So, we stop to get coffee, Donna sits down with  food from another shop one of the employees says to her, You can't eat that here, and she says, I am waiting for our coffee. He says that she still cannot be there. But she stays and waits for the coffee, then, another employee comes over, and says again that she cannot stay there, she says, I don't need to be told twice, I AM WAITING FOR MY COFFEE FROM YOUR SHOP. I am at the counter and here them talking about her and pull them up on it. The owner says" she will be gone when they get their coffees.' So after 10 minutes, we get the coffees, sit down and the OWNER comes up and says, you will have to leave, you cannot drink that coffee here, it is take away coffee..... Donna said that she is not going to drink it in the rain.. what are you going to do... arrest me? He said... Yelling I will PULL the chair from underneath you..... OMG and this is how he treats his customers...... DO NOT GO TO EPITOME EVER, what rude horrible people, could understand if we had bought nothing from them..... AGAIN that shop name is EPITOME at Burns Bay road, Lane Cove. Should have recorded the abuse and shown it to the cops, we were so shocked at the way we were treated.

Really high quality food. Service is adequate but staff are not completely friendly or helpful. Decor is great, with fireplace and lounge like atmosphere. Very quick and convenient restaurant or cafe. Parking is accessible and a big carpark nearby.

I am never ever coming back here again! Don't come here as it is an awful place to eat take out coffee. They need to change the owner and train staff! Awful service. During the meal no one has even checked if i needed smth until i had to shout to bring some water.

Food quality is shockingly bad. The so called wild breakfast with scrambled eggs came with stale bread and my coffee mug had stuck-on dust almost as if it hadn't been washed for months

I have always found the food here to be fantastic and value for money. ......but the service is a has always been a bit hit or miss,  Still they do a great coffee and I love the live music.

Ambience very good. In winter there's a fire and lovely comfort food. Service is good. If you sit upstairs it's very pleasant.

Very bad. Needs new owners, management. Poorly presented rude manager/owner. Ordered but left without waiting. Get a clue...
