I went to this restaurant for the first time a week or so ago. I went for the yum cha. It was very good. The portion sizes of the yum cha were generous and filling. The taste was on point and a very close match to the authentic yum cha taste I know from Hong Kong. It hasn't knocked off my absolute favourite place for yum cha in Adelaide, but a good experience. I personally wouldn't come here too often only because I live in the Western suburbs of Adelaide and it is quite a drive to get here, but I would recommend for locals to the Eastern suburbs and those wanting to try a different yum cha venue.
It's good to be back again having dinner at empress restaurant. Its feel so alive within the busy environment such as talking and laughing. The staff also are experience, caring as well as food are delicious. I recommend for someone or travelers from foreign countries, if you come to adelaide for first time or staying in Adelaide but haven't visited empress restaurant can go to empress restaurant.
Appalling as we were served with sour and spoiled prawn dumplings which were clearly leftovers from the day before. These were completely inedible and belong in the bin.nThe chicken feet were also clearly not fresh. Quite disappointing as we used to be fans of their yumcha!
Came here for yum cha with my boyfriend on a really hot day. No wait at all. We were seated straight away by a lovely lady, which was a great start.nWe ordered quite a few dishes and left absolutely stuffed. Overall, the food here is slightly better than most yum cha places I’ve tried in Adelaide. The beef meatballs and fried squids were standouts for me.nA couple of things could be better. The skins on the spinach prawn dumplings and the prawn rice rolls were a bit thick, though they still tasted good. The taro dumplings didn’t seem super fresh and weren’t very crispy.nStill, a solid yum cha spot and I’d definitely recommend giving it a go.
My uber eats driver waited 20 mins before getting the food and told me you guys were holding him up. Don’t mark the order as ready for pickup until you’ve made it or people get annoyed. I used to work in fast food and even I know how to use delivery apps correctly, it’s shocking you’ve survived in the restaurant business in one of the highest rent areas in Adelaide.
