The best yum cha to date we had in South Australia. Very authentic... The taro/ was so delicious and not only... there are so many other things on menu we would love to order, certainly would come back again...nnUpdated... Came back again last Sunday, 11/2. Although busy but the quality of food remains. Egg tart to end the meal is definitely a must.
Went for yum cha but was told that they only do it for the lunch now. Didn’t read anything about this anywhere so was a bit disappointed.nThe fried rice and sweet and sour pork was not too bad. Avoid the red curry crab of which the batter was really thick and the crab was tasteless .nService was alright.
Ordered many dishes to try and here is a quick review on each of themn1. BBQ pork buns - sweet minced pork encased in fluffy white pillowy dough yumn2. Custard lava buns - dough was a bit on the thicker side but the inner filling was sweet and creamy like condensed milkn3. Fried squid tentacles are a must get - chewy with a crispy coating and seasoned welln4. Black sesame balls!!! Fried on the outside but chewy and gelatinous on the inside and filled with rich sesame paste which was not sweet at all!n5. Flaky taro pastry - thought this would be sweet but turns out it's savory with minced meat. The golden crusty exterior was perfectly done my mouth is salivating thinking about itn6. Dough fritter roll - fried crunchy goodness wrapped in silky white skin, lovely contrasting textures paired perfectly well with the salty savory saucen7. Others: siewmai, prawn dumplings, carrot cake were all yummy too
Update: been to lunchtime Yum Chars several times since for unparalleled dim sums that are bouncy, juicy and succulent. The Congee is also my favourite in Adelaide. Service still decent despite the swelling crowds, reservations are recommended. If you bring a birthday cake with you, prepare to pay 10 dollars for the honour of serving it up here.nnNoisy. Really nice decor, normal to decent Chinese food, excellent service. The desserts are western, a big surprise, delicious and meticulously crafted. Portions are quite generous.
After a bit of a shaky start when some wines were not available and first the starter was not available and then it was and then it came twice. Duck pancakes with very nice tender meat but could have had more duck and more hoisin sauce. Then came the stars of the show, fantastic lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork with nice fried rice. The flavors of the chicken and pork were so nice you just wanted to keep eating them. The portions are quite generous and between three of us we still had enough for a take away portion.nWe interacted with at least three staff members and found each one to be very pleasant and attentive. Can’t wait to go back when I return to Adelaide.
