"Emerald Gardens at Wests New Lambton is a restaurant where generosity is abundant. The meals are substantial and the service is attentive, warm and friendly. The menu is full of adventure and discovery, with a rich bounty of fine fare to choose from. The long list of house specialties provides ample choice, but the menu continues with an array of soups and mouth-watering appetisers. You can choose your main from the tantalising list of chicken, pork, beef, duck, prawns or omelettes. A combination of these incredible meals can be served as a banquet. For those who don’t eat meat, the vegetarian mock meat selection is like nothing you have ever seen on a restaurant menu before."

Very cosy atmosphere and our waiter was lovely. The Sesame Prawn Toast as appetiser was the best I've had for some time. For our mains my partner had the Honey and Pepper Beef and I had the Salt & Pepper Squid. My meal came out first and was delicious however my partners meal arrived 20 minutes after and while the flavour was on point, the beef was too chewy to eat to the point we left and had to buy my partner a meal elsewhere. I had been looking forward to having the Deep Fried Ice cream but didn't get there as the wait time combined with my partners meal not being edible put me off. First and last time for eating at this establishment.
A very good experience with my family. Ambience was very good, decor was calm and cozy, service was excellent, food was really good. Nice choice of cutlery for serving and on table. I ordered Malaysian food and must say this is the closest to Malaysian cuisine that I have tasted so far in Australia. Not many Malaysian dishes though. Every dish was unique with flavor and texture and presentation. Portions very large and sufficient. All in my family enjoyed it. The price was another stunner. For the feel, quality of food, experience, and service it was definitely low.. Have paid much more for lousy food and quality elsewhere. Waiting to go again and try the other dishes. Surely one of my favourites in Newcastle. Surprised to know about this restaurant from my daughter because they went on a school business visit. They need more advertisement for people to enjoy the good food.
The entrees were bland short soup, chicken and corn soup , mixed entree and did not do any justice to the cuisine. Disappointed that the flavours just didnt come through in the dishes. For our main we had sizzling surf and turf with special fried rice. The flavours were better and saved the meal. No chilli or soy sauce were offered as a side and would have been great for the whole dining experience.. Staff and service was great
If this isnt the best Chinese restaurant in the area I dont know what is. The service and food was excellent. Atmosphere was great also. Make a booking as they seem very busy
I think it would be difficult for a Chinese restaurant like this to exist in Newcastle without the support of somewhere like Wests? Anyway the Deluxe fried rice is a meal in itself. Any of the house speciaties are good but one of my favourite dishes they seem to have taken off the menu? I think it was called spring chicken, it was a szechwan dish and actually had a note on the menu saying that it was very different . I really like Asian food and have had a lot of different dishes but never anything like it. It's not hot like chilli but is very spicy and has Szechuan pepper oil in it which gives you an experience like nothing else.
Visited with my duaghter and booked a table for 2. Took approx. 15 minutes to get the entree out but then another 45 minutes to get the main meal out by which time I was ready to walk out. Other people that arrived after us had finished their main meal and leaving. Staff were focused on a birghday party table only. Restaurant was only half full. Kwoy teow beef abd chicken were deep fired in oil not stir fried and were rubbery. Will not visit again and I'm a perpetual member. Please pi k up your act. 01 April 22.
Fantastic restaurant, we go there often as the good is reasonably priced, great range, large dishes and always tastes great. The staff there are excellent and go to out of their way to make sure you are enjoying yourself and do everything they can to assist. We even brought our own cake there for a birthday and they couldn't be happier to serve it and make the evening special. I highly recommend the restaurant, the Mongolian Beef, honey chicken, satay chicken and special fried rice are my top picks! Great place for the whole family! We went there tonight with an 18 month old and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating to children, yes they have high chairs.
Great atmosphere and quiet good food but I found the staffs average. They didn't served me a water in a fine dinning resturant, until I choked and asked for it. I looked around to check thinking they must have forgotten but no one had a water in their table. Anyways moving to the menu we found very less Gluten Free options where I feel they could have made more dishes Gluten Free. Fortune cookies were a nice touch and fun at last. Will recommend for one time experience.
Great variety of food and cosy setting. Great for family gatherings or date night. We had the banquet and there was so much food, with a great variety and good portion sizes. The honey chicken was delicious! Even people who don't like Chinese food would like it.
Another great dining experience, the meals were quick to arrive, are very friendly on the wallet, and taste great. The venue is well maintained and caters for plenty of people. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. We've never had a bad experience here, and we still class this as the best Chinese in Newcastle!
