Elisabeth Quay is not only a ferry port, from here you can take the quick ferry across to South Perth and some other destinations, e.g Rottnest, and Swan river Charters, but also a pretty nice place to hang out. You will find many cafes and eateries here, as well as some lovely music. You can walk the pedestrian bridge and also visit the Island from here.nThere are fireworks in the summer months at 9pm.
Elizabeth Quay has been a great addition to the centre of Perth. Which I'd we are honest is pretty quiet once the office crowd has gone home. Always something happening night and day. There is a wide choice of places to eat however, some are pretty pricey. You can take the ferry to Fremantle or Rottnest island, or go just to South Perth. The latter is cheap and runs very regularly day and night & gives another perspective on the city if you are short of time. Well worth a visit and easy to walk through the CBD to Northbridge for lots more bars and restaurants.
Excellent place for a nice steady ramble around for an hour or two or 3.nPlenty of interesting stuff to see/do, including an excursion to Rottnest island.nLoads of bars cafes etc.all very civilized and jolly!
Elizabeth Quay is a really great place to relax and enjoy Perth’s riverfront. The views are beautiful, especially on a sunny day or around sunset, and the whole area feels open, clean, and well looked after. It’s right in the city, so it’s super easy to get to, but once you’re there it doesn’t feel busy or stressful.nnThere are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, from casual cafés to nicer restaurants, and it’s nice just grabbing a coffee and walking along the water. The river cruises and ferries are a bonus and make the place feel lively without being crowded. There’s often something going on, like small events or people just hanging out, but it still feels calm and comfortable.nnWhether you’re visiting Perth or living here, Elizabeth Quay is a great spot for a walk, a meal, or just sitting by the water and enjoying the atmosphere. Definitely one of the nicest places to spend time in the city.
Elizabeth Quay is a modern waterfront precinct in Perth, built between 2012 and 2016 to reconnect the city with the Swan River.nnThe project was a redevelopment of an area that had been an underutilised public space, once the location of Perth's early port and the Perth Water Baths.nnThe quay's development involved creating a new inlet, island, and a network of promenades and public spaces, with official opening in January 2016.nnOriginal site: The area was once a bustling port and the site of the Perth Water Baths before the construction of Riverside Drive closed off the city from the river.nnProject development:nPlanning for the quay began after ARM Architecture won a design competition in 2006.nConstruction started on April 26, 2012.nThe name Elizabeth Quay was announced on May 28, 2012.nnOpening: The main part of the quay was completed in January 2016, just in time for the Perth International Arts Festival, and officially opened to the public on January 29, 2016.nnKey features: The precinct was designed with a 2.7-hectare inlet, surrounding public promenades, a new island, and diverse land uses to support year-round activity. It includes art installations, restaurants, hotels, and public spaces.nnHistorical elements: The design deliberately incorporates history by including features like the Geoffrey Bolton Avenue, named after a prominent historian, and the relocation of the Florence Hummerston Kiosk.nnThe area also commemorates other historical figures like Bessie Rischbieth and Lieutenant General Sir J. J. Talbot Hobbs
