terrible service but the food was amazing, so we arrive at this cafe after our original place was too full. we entered saw the sign that said please wait to be seated so we waited for a few minutes of not even being acknowledged before asking what the deal was. we were told just to take a seat anywhere not a good start, so we took a seat inside the waitress there promptly dumped a couple of menus in front of us not even a hello or would you like some coffee to start. 5 minutes later I finally get the attention of another waitress and ask if we can order coffee. meanwhile there are only 3 other parties in the cage already eating so they disnt need much service. after we get our coffee we then order food. the food I must say was actually really good and value for money. will I return probably not service is a big deal for me coming from that line of work all my life .
The service was quick and friendly. I sat outside with my dog and they were very attentive, asking if I'd like a bowl of water for him while I eat. The coffee was good, and the food - as unappetising as it was displayed on the plate, was actually really tasting and filling. Overall it was an enjoyable breakfast.
Service was slow as there wasn’t enough staff on, so we waited over half an hour for our food and when it did arrive, we were a bit disappointed. The corn fritters on the menu said it included an egg, however there was no egg. The pancakes said it included fresh fruits but the fruit was bananas, pineapple and lettuce. Interesting combo for sure. The pancakes themselves were cold and thin - not worth the price we paid. Would not return here.
Service was good. The lady who took my order and got us to our table was really nice! The food, to be honest it was disappointing. We ordered a special on the menu, the grilled Chicken Burger. The breast meat was really dry, the bread was small and the salad in the burger was just a simple cabbage mix with a sauce that tasted like salad dressing. The second main that arrived was the Gruyere Toast. Flavours was odd, appearance was fried mushrooms, some bread and lots of rocket. The rocket was dry without any dressing. Coffees were good. We waited a fair bit for the food and paid $40 for the two mains and two coffees. It's going to be tough competition when you're competing with Twenty & Six down the road that serves original seasonal cafe meals.
Dropped by to take away a coffee. Service was a bit lukewarm and not very friendly. Coffee itself is a bit watery too. But overall still okay. Would be keen to come back and try their food as it looks quite interesting, but perhaps not so much for the coffee.
Great local find in North Melbourne. The food was terrific and not as pricey as Auction Room or 7 Seeds. We also had one of the better coffees I've tasted in a while here. The space has a terrific relaxed vibe. It's a not a huge space which I think is a plus because a lot of other larger places become too loud to chat over your meal. So be aware that there could be a line or go just after the rush.
We used to quite like eating here, and the quality isn't bad, but the angry shouty man who we assume to be the owner/manager makes the atmosphere unpleasant. He's always hanging around and talking rudely to his staff. He isn't subtle about it and it's impossible to ignore. I occasionally drop in for a takeaway coffee but I couldn't stay for a meal with him there. The other staff are very nice.
A small quiet cafe with lots of charm. Lots of sunlight coming through from that huge window so it's bright and airy in the dining area. My wife tried the spicy beef pie with salad and loved it. It was flavoursome and hearty, perfect for a winter afternoon. I have the corn and jalapeño fritters with poached egg and it was quite good and can't complain about the avocado that came with it. Coffee was decent and price was not too expensive. Highly recommended.
Not sure if this place has been recently bought out but can’t seem to justify the high star rating. My partner and I shared one of the most unpleasant breakfasts here. My pea smash was fridge cold, bland, poorly textured and covered in powdered Parmesan. Her breakfast was a suburban attempt at a basic haloumi and pesto dish. Nothing on the menu stood out. The layout and courtyard of this place is quite nice so it’s a shame the food is nujood. Coffee was alright. Not cheap either.
I've just had lunch here and pretty disappointed with the serve size. I ordered a pumpkin salad, which was $17. For that price I would except a main meal, what a received was entreè size at best. My husband's breakfast was not large enough to fill him up. We both felt that they are charging $4 over what they should for what we received. I would also question the freshness of the salad mix they use as it had slimy pieces in it. We're locals and we will not return here again after today.
