Have had a year 7 student start in 2023 which coincided with the start of the new principal Rochelle Lewis who is working hard & passionate to create a good "buzz" in the school environment. Have been happy with the school. Facebook page shares lot of info and gives an idea of the school environment or go to a P&C meeting to form your own view if right for your child. Opportunities in music, sport, academic. Has a smaller community feel - lots of fun activities - weekly free breakfast, school musical, Matilda's celebration day; wellbeing picnics, school camps. Senior leaders seem to be good mentors for the sports houses with dress ups at swimming/sports carnivals. Form classes are made up with different year levels so kids can get to know others. They are bringing in fantastic new programs in 2024. School grounds/resources have been upgraded - hospitality hub and grounds look great. Teachers have been very responsive with introduction emails to parents which advise of subject content each term to create a connection with child's learning. Communication has been good. Office staff have been helpful.
My son has been there for just over 6 months. He has been bullied constantly and is so disappointed about the lack of physical education at the school.
worst school i have ever been to, i was bullied and they did nothing about it my mum contacted the school about it multiple times and they did nothing, the students were horrible to each other day in to day out they always had students saying and doing mean things to each other the students were toxic people to be around. Don't recommend going to this school
Horrible reputation and control of students: This school is a mess and a HUGE lack of professionalism and control of students. Most of the students there always seem disinterested in learning and most are either leaving/waging school during the day, others vandalize and vape in the bathrooms. And many others get away wearing the wrong uniforms. Trust me, Elanora is in a bad shape, most facilities are dirty and unhygienic. Teachers always look like they are not interested in their jobs and unhappy towards parents and students. Never once saw a smile on their face which is a red flag, mainly the student services regardless. If you accidently forget your uniform or didn't bring it you have to wear used clothing from the Wellbeing Hub which is purely disgusting, they have their protocols all wrong. Very dirty and unhygienic. Teachers treat us students disrespectfully and approach us the wrong way. The school mostly cares about the money and the uniform protocol instead of the mental wellbeing of a fellow student. Seeing the other reviews I can tell they experienced the same thing as I did and many other students that went here. I highly don't recommend sending your kid here it can effect your mental health greatly.
Nothing but bad, go to a different school
ESHS has been fantastic for my Grade 8 daughter. Teachers I have met are caring and connected to their students. School is not meant to be a holiday camp and there are rules with which students need to adhere to, just like Marymount, Hillcrest, PBC, Miami, TSS, StHildas etc.
Elanora has a team of fantastic teachers, a great wellbeing program with lots of support for all students. With a new Principal we can see the positive growth in the school and it’s connections with community!
Horrible school, went there years ago as a student, teachers didn't treat the students with respect . The schools discipline system was really bad and does not work effectively, i have had classes where there was a teacher smoking in the class room. the school's staff did not help students in the way they needed it. if a student needed to be taught something another way they wouldn't help them further their knowledge on the topic. The facilities where extremely dirty and disgusting. the school has no control of the students. lots of drugs and violence happens at that school. students are talked down to and not towards. Respecting and treating the students would potentially help the teachers control the students, students get targeted by teachers before they even get to know or understand their circumstances and or how the student is as a person.
This is the worst school on the Gold Coast. The teacher’s methods and systems are something out of the early 1900’s. They like to single out students in front of the whole class and shame them publicly because of their backgrounds, past and circumstances.
we got weekend detentions now, and i almost got suspended for mucking around with my mates, but i love the teachers, rees, ivett, Mr smith, Mr Newman and Ms Kesting girls also get in trouble for wearing shorts!
