Originally titled "Lower Hutt Christian Fellowship" under Pastors Barry and Yvonne Galloway.

The church found a long term arrangement with  Naenae College, using the hall in the late 80s and 90s.

In 2000 it purchased and moved its services to a former skating ring in Naenae and changed it's full name to The Oasis Hutt City New Life Church. "The Oasis" being the name given to the building and "Hutt City New Life Church" being it's church and organisational name.

At the beginning of 2013 Barry and Yvonne stepped down as Senior Pastors to focus on overseas missions trips and handed the reigns over to Pastors Jacob and Lisa Semeri who had been an associate Pastor at the church since 2007 when his former church in Stokes Valley disbanded and joined The Oasis
