About NZ made, Lyttelton-centric, personal shopping experience. Supporting locals, buying local, painted green. Story Henry Trading is a pretty gift shop in downtown Lyttelton. Originally named Portico, Henry Trading relocated and had a name change after the earthquakes shook everything up in 2011. A fresh coat of green paint, bright white original pressed tin ceilings and sash windows to a harbour view at the back, the new space in the historic Mahars Drapery building is resplendent on the sunny side of the street. The shop is a zigzag of shelves, counters and glass cabinets filled with carefully curated goods of simple, honest design that reflect values of heritage and integrity, quality and care. Henry Trading is a champion of the locally made, the Lyttelton-centric and of family based manufacture in New Zealand. Maree Henry, the proprioter and shopkeeper, has created an independent miniature department store. She really likes being in the middle of the good people finding the good things that good people have made. It's simple.
