She Trained with Ralph De Ville and Kathee Kovacevic, learning various massage techniques including: Swedish Massage Myofascial Release Trigger Point Therapy Deep Tissue Massage Lymphatic Drainage Lauren is a valued member of the group offering her personal style of firm and confident massage that has been called "Viking Massage". Lauren never does the same massage twice. Using a combination of strong deep pressure with firm gentle strokes, she blends her massage skills and techniques to suit your specific needs on the day. You will feel relaxed, stretched and grounded. Massage relieves stress, tension, headaches and body pains. It helps lower high blood pressure and improves circulation. It benefits the immune system, strengthening it against cold and flu and other infections. Massage assists in muscle flexibility and injury rehabilitation. Swedish Massage - Uses a gentle pressure with long flowing strokes to calm and relax you. It improves circulation, lowers blood pressure and relaxes muscles. It gives you a feeling of calmness and relaxation. Myofascial Release - uses light gentle stretching of the fascia, Fascia is the thin filament of connective tissue that surrounds all muscle and connects it to the skin. When the fascia is tight it will constrict the muscle, making the muscle tight. Another myofascial release technique is the "unwind" where the head or limbs are gently retracted then supported in a stretching unwinding motion. When the fascia is released, the muscle is released. Trigger point therapy - uses fingers and elbows to apply pressure to trigger points or knots in the muscle. Unlike acupuncture, which works on the meridians and set points on the body, myofascial trigger points can be found all over the body and usually in any tight muscle. These trigger points can tighten and shorten the muscle causing pain locally to the area or referred to other muscles. Deep tissue massage - uses hands, arms, elbows and strong deep pressure to knead and stretch the skin, muscles and tendons. This releases muscle tension, stress and increases the range of motion. Lymphatic Drainage - uses light and gentle flowing strokes and a slow pumping action to manually move lymphatic congestion. This is useful in the case of Lymph Oedema, reducing the swelling but also improving the lymph system in general.
