About ON HOLD. Splinter & Callous is an urban wood and metal workshop where people find their inner maker with expert guidance from master craftsmen. Story ON HOLD UNTIL WE FIND A NEW HOME. Splinter & Callous is a large workshop space in inner Melbourne. The floor contains rows of large workbenches filled with people excitedly talking, drawing, and building things. All around the edges of the room, are large industrial looking tools. Band-saws, jigsaws, lathes, drill presses, – like the tools you might have seen in your grandfather's shed, only bigger, and more of them. The corner of the space flashes as sparks fly inside the welding booth. Large stores of timber, metal rods and pipes line shelves like your corner hardware store. Splinter and Callous is like a gym that shapes more than looks; it’s an urban workshop, where you'll learn real skills. The tools and the mentors are always there waiting to build you. It’s your workshop. Mission To enable people to be more than consumers; to make them creators.
