About:
About Queensland Theatre is Australia’s third largest theatre company, creating collective experiences that change lives. We present an annual season of the best theatre from classics to contemporary international and Australian work. Story Queensland Theatre is Australia’s third largest theatre company. Since 1970 we have been creating collective experiences that change lives. We present an annual season of the finest theatre from classics to contemporary international and Australian work. We lead from Queensland in the development of new artists and new stories, in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander theatre, in education and youth participation, and in regional engagement and touring. In 2016, we presented 305 performances to over 110,000 people, employed 339 artists, toured regionally and nationally, and had an annual turnover of approximately $11.5 million. 2017 is Artistic Director Sam Strong’s inaugural season. It will see the company reach more people in Queensland and around Australia than ever before. At the end of January, the 2017 season has already broken records for single ticket and season ticket sales. Our Vision is to be the best theatre company in the Country by our 50th Birthday in 2020. By then, we will have contributed to the cultural conversation by creating the next Australian theatre classic. We will also be firmly established as the national theatre of first breaks. The Bille Brown Studio: Named in honour of the acclaimed Queensland actor and playwright, Bille Brown Studio is an intimate theatre ideally suited for drama, dance, music, film launches, conferences and AGMs. Seats are retractable and can adapt to cabaret style for more engaging performances or rock the space with bands and a dance floor.
