About La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary and Indigenous Plant Nursery Story Welcome to an official Facebook page of La Trobe University. The La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary is La Trobe’s Outdoor Laboratory. We are a 30 Hectare, Open River Red Gum woodland that has operated in the conservation of Indigenous flora and fauna in Melbourne’s north for the past 50 years. We specialise in transformative education experiences for primary, secondary and tertiary students, as well as tours, volunteering, and a thriving Indigenous plant nursery.
