About Community Action Youth Service supports young people from 12-25 yrs. We offer many services. Story The Community Action – Youth Service (formerly Cooloola Youth Service) provides a range of housing and other support services for young people aged 12-25. Our Resource Centre is located at 24 Lawrence Street in Gympie. We have lots of information for young people and if we can’t directly assist, we can refer to someone who can. Resource Centre Business Hours: 9.30am – 4.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 1.00pm – 4.30pm on Wednesdays Drop in and see our friendly staff or ring to make an appointment on (07) 5482 6188. Mission Our mission: To provide appropriate housing, social services and programmes to those in need in our community. Our Vision: We have a vision for a COMMUNITY IN ACTION: a socially inclusive community: a community without poverty, homelessness or violence: a community where individuals and families are valued: a community where everyone can participate in community. Products Resource Centre If you are aged 12—25 years and you need assistance but don’t know where to turn, drop in and have a chat with one of the friendly team at the Community Action-Youth Service at 24 Lawrence Street, Gympie. We have loads of information about young people’s issues and if we can’t directly help you, we can refer you to someone who can. Emergency Relief Monday-Friday 1:30pm-3:30pm If aged 12—25 years assistance may be provided, on referral from Centrelink, with emergency relief for: Food Accommodation Transport Medical assistance Emergency payment of bills Referrals to specialist services We can alsoprovide budgeting assistance. Gympie Accommodation Project (GAP) GAP Helps Young People With : Crisis/short-term accommodation for homeless young people Information about housing options Assistance to access affordable long-term housing Personal support and development Mediation Living skills development Help with income difficulties General information Referral to specialist services. Young Womens Network (YWN) YWN Helps Young Women With: Crisis/short-term housing for young women & accompanying children Sexual health information & support Pregnancy/family planning support Parenting/relationship support &information Assistance with medical appointments Information on safe sex & contraception Pregnancy tests Referrals to specialist services & advocacy Advice Support & personal development Someone friendly to talk to in a nice safe environment Group Activities Fortnightly Young Mums Group is held at the HUB Thursday at 1:30pm. A fortnightly group call The Hoot will be held Wednesday at 1.30pm.. This includes food and activities. Selected activities throughout the year. Please call for more information or see our website.
